Europe is not a menu à la carte, its a political project, the French president declared
A political project is indeed what Europe has become. Project goals: flood the continent with Moslem barbarians, eventually creating such chaos as to give the Euro syndicate swampsters an excuse to erase national borders / sovereignty.
A similar project engineered by similarly inclined globalists has been proceeding in No. America for quite some time. Thankfully we elected a President that's doing the will of American patriots and putting the brakes on this mission of national and cultural abolition.

When the oppressed people go after these “elite” that endanger their liberties, their safety and their very lives, I hope they aren’t expecting help from the rest of us.

"Macron has previously summarised next years vote as a battle between pro-sovereignty conservatives and a 'progressive' bloc which would impose his vision of a globalist, socially liberal EU superstate, which revolves around values' and secular 'human rights',(sic) on the entire continent." - MacronWow!! Sounds precisely like the "battle" between factions in America--one group who favors America's 1787 Constitutional safeguards and the so-called "Progressives" who wish America to return to the Old World ideas which preceded America's Declaration of Independence and the resulting Constitutional safeguards for individuals, with limitations on government power.

So, if they are forced out of Schengen, doesn’t that mean that they are no longer part of the EU and no longer have to deal with the pressure put on them by the elite bureaucrats that are destroying the continent and they can reestablish & secure their borders?

Just because France is getting trashed doesn’t mean that other countries have to be trashed as well.

And who the heck made Macron Emperor of Europe? Why do Germany and France get to dictate policy to the rest of the EU?
The Visegrad group really needs to get together with the Netherlands, Denmark, Italy, etc., to tell Macron and Merkel to go eff themselves.

Well, there were those folks from Romania .....
JERRY: (trying desperately to make conversation) So, Ceausescu. He must've been some dictator.
KATYA: Oh yes. He was not shy about dictating.
JERRY: He, uh, he must've been dictating first thing in the morning. "I want a cup of coffee and a muffin!"
KATYA: And you could not refuse.

It's a passport-free area, but not all of the EU is in it. From wiki -
Twenty-two of the twenty-eight European Union (EU) member states participate in the Schengen Area. Of the six EU members that are not part of the Schengen Area, four Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, and Romania are legally obliged to join the area, while the other two the Republic of Ireland and the United Kingdom maintain opt-outs.

A friend recently went to Paris. She said the security to get into the hotels she stayed in (high end) was like airport security. She also said she felt unsafe walking the streets, often looking over her shoulder.
So much for Paris the city of romance.
What a project indeed!!
