The council approved a $500,000 grant to Catholic Charities of Oregon, which will use the money to hire attorneys and paralegals to represent potential deportees. A minimum of 60 people are to receive attorney help under the grant, according to the agreement. At least 50 of those "will receive a screening for service eligibility," though no eligibility conditions are listed.

Chalk up another take away for Republicans and say hello to Knute Buehler. Oregon Democrats don’t seem to want to acknowledge they are in trouble so it’s business as usual: steal the people’s money to buy votes.

Productive Americans will have their money used to help illegal parasites stay here - in clear violation of the law. Yep. That sounds like the Oregon I know.

I’m sorry but I just don’t understand how anyone can stay with the Catholic Church in this day and age. Of course I don’t agree with big hierarchical church anyway, Southern Baptist, Methodist or any of them.

So much for the Catholic church helping out legal Americans who may need funds for their own legal issues or other financial issues. Or how about funds for the victims of the predator priests.

I see where their priority lays.

I say this as a former Catholic.

If this is how the Catholic Church regards our country’s Constitution, I’m for banning the Catholic Church from our country. This is outrageous!
