Yesterday evening, Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) gave attorney Debra S. Katz an ultimatum - agree to reasonable testimonial terms for her client and alleged sexual assault survivor Professor Christine Blasey Ford by 10:00 PM Friday or the Senate would go ahead and vote on Monday to confirm Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. In return, Katz accused the senator of establishing an "arbitrary" deadline and flatly declined to comply with his request and instead asked for one more day. Shortly after midnight, Sen. Grassley agreed to give Katz and her client one more day.

If Grassley ends up showing some spine and proceeds, he has to say explicitly that the Democrats were just playing a game to run out the clock and prevent a vote from ever taking place. But he probably won't. That's if he even schedules a vote.
Interesting theory but not plausible. If a Republican is holding out despite Grassley inviting Ford to testify, then I can't conceive of what would cause them to vote for Kavanaugh under any conditions, in which case they'd just pull the nomination.
I suspect that soon it will be even stevens: GOP will have 1 scalp (Garland), and the Dems will have 1 scalp (Kavanaugh). Here’s to returning to proper order on the next SCOTUS nominee, whether a Dem or GOP submission, and make sure the “dirt” is entered early on to avoid surprises like this.
The GOP: snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
So, how long do you think Grassley, et al. should continue to toss the press’s salad?
DOH! Once again.
Senator Grassley never should have done this. You will see why in the next few days.
Why won't there be a vote? Kavanaugh can be voted in at anytime and can take his place on the SC at anytime. There are no fixed times or dates.
Granted, it would be nice if Kavanaugh could be sworn in before the court convenes (Oct 1, I believe). But nothing is cast in stone.
Now that makes sense. I did not know that. Thanks!
Grassley is a limp dick of a man.
So, by appeasing the “moderates”, G4ssley serves dem interests. And people wonder why conservtives are ticked.
