Chevy Chase Basically Hates the Current ‘SNL’
https://variety.com ^ | SEPTEMBER 19, 2018 | R Yang

“I’m amazed that Lorne [Michaels] has gone so low. I had to watch a little of it, and I just couldn’t f—ing believe it,” Chase told the Washington Post. “That means a whole generation of s—heads laughs at the worst f—ing humor in the world. You know what I mean? How could you dare give that generation worse s— than they already have in their lives? It just drives me nuts.”

It’s not just the current cast that Chase criticized — he hasn’t liked most of the most seasons of “SNL.”

“I’d have to say, that after the first two years, it went downhill,” Chase said. “Why am I saying that? Because I was in it? I guess. That’s a horrible thing to say. But certainly I never had more fun. I really loved it and enjoyed it. I didn’t see the same fun thing happening to the cast the next year.”

Lorne Michels was behind this year’s emmys.

he was also behind this crappy 1970s “10 year Rolling Stone Magazine special”.

“”this is the Star Wars Xmas special of rock.””

A load of us were miffed at WHY MacDonald ‘left’. He was ordered to stop doing ‘OJ is guilty’ skits, as a producer was good friends with OJ. Norm was GREAT!

SNL is NBC

NBC is Comcast

Comcast is an American enemy more dangerous to theRepublic than Russia or Iran or North Korea

He was brilliant as “Turd Ferguson.”

Phil Hartman was a very funny guy. His timing was impeccable.

Those dry looks at the camera, his expressions, his comments, mad me laugh. The early Steve Martin used to have me smiling as he walked on stage. Phil did the same thing.

When his wife shot him, it really bothered me. It still does to this day, all the humor that man would have brought to the world, and that selfish POS wife of his ended it.

Haven’t watched since Eddie Murphy and Joe Piscapo.

It has gotten to the point where somebody will be named as a member of their cast and I have NO IDEA.

And I don’t even care.

Chevy is not close to his fellow performers.

He might as well be “living in a van down by the river.”

We always enjoyed Robin Williams on TV, the Tonight Show, etc. We made the mistake of going to see him in his own show. Shocking and appalling. Sad.

Nothing lasts forever.

Chevy was never that funny, but his Clark Griswold character was classic.

RIP Belushi and Radner

Norm MacDonald was certainly the best KFC Colonel in recent memory. I actually paid attention to their commercials then.

Still couldn’t afford a whole bucket with the fixin’s but now I avoid their commercials.

Chevy. You never said a more true word.

I stopped watching when the Not Ready For Prime Time Players stopped being on. I really only liked those shows. After that it seemed to be unfunny.

Comedy has lost its innocence, and inside jokes.

I heard about his murder early that morning. As I drove down the 5 Freeway to work (we used to live in SoCal), I looked up toward Encino and all I could think about was ‘Phil Hartman is laying up there and he’s dead’. Heartbreaking. I saw Leno that night, and his voice was cracking as he spoke about his good friend Phil. Apparently, Phil had taken on the moniker the ‘Sheriff of Encino’ and he used to speak to Jay at night and tell him ‘all is quiet in Encino tonight’. A great talent lost at the hand of his druggie wife.

He was banned forever from SNL, so this is expected. Sour Grapes.

I haven’t been able to sit through an entire show for at least 10 years probably longer. It’s not even on my “entertainment radar screen” anymore. I didn’t know it was still on!

SNL was alway a unwatchable after Weekend Update. I watched the first 20 minutes of a single episode last year and realized they put all the crap up front as well.

Some folks don’t have social skills. I’m not sure what was going on with him, but he may have had a childhood where he didn’t learn how to make connections.

He acted like an ass the last time he hosted. Lorne Michaels banned him for life from the show.
