Former Secretary of State John Kerry fired back at President Trump on Friday after the president slammed Kerry's continued meetings with foreign diplomats from Iran and other countries, calling them "illegal."
“There’s absolutely nothing unusual about it. The conversation I think he really ought to be worried about is Paul Manafort with Mueller,” Kerry said on HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher,” referring to Trump's former campaign chairman who "flipped" on Friday to cooperate with special counsel Robert Mueller.
“It really is giant, and soon you’ll be hearing him say that is the worst that’s ever been made. When you think about it, it’s really gone from the Art of the Deal to the art of the squeal,” he added.
Manafort agreed to a plea deal with Mueller's team Friday on two federal charges. The deal involves full cooperation with Mueller in his probe into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian meddling in the 2016 election as well as looking at potential obstruction of justice.
Manafort was among the Trump campaign officials who attended the June 2016 meeting in Trump Tower with Donald Trump Jr. and a Kremlin-linked lawyer who had promised dirt on Hilary Clinton.
Kerry's comments Friday are the latest in a feud between the pair this week over Kerry’s maintained contacts with foreign dignitaries after he left the State Department when Trump took office in early 2017.
“John Kerry had illegal meetings with the very hostile Iranian Regime, which can only serve to undercut our great work to the detriment of the American people. He told them to wait out the Trump Administration! Was he registered under the Foreign Agents Registration Act? BAD!” Trump tweeted on Thursday.
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo also called the meetings “unseemly and unprecedented” on Friday.
Kerry played a central role during the Obama administration in crafting the nuclear deal Iran signed with the U.S. and five other world powers in 2015, a deal Trump pulled the U.S. out of in May.
The former secretary of State has denied any wrongdoing regarding the meetings with Iran and other countries.
“We have conversations with people about the state of affairs in the world in order to understand them. We don’t negotiate, we’re not involved in interfering with policy,” Kerry said on Fox News earlier this week.
“It’s not Iran deal-specific, it’s with respect to trade, it’s with respect to NATO,” he added.
His clearance should be pulled. Iran is an enemy, for nearly 40 years. No excuse for this.
It takes a very special talent to be as fugly on the inside as on the outside.

Anyone thinking that the US Senate has standards should study the history of those two losers.
It’s simple.
The global elites are ignoring Trump and his Administration.
They are conducting foreign policy, not only in contradiction to that established by a duly elected government, but in spite of it.
If the full weight of the law is not brought to bear on these criminals implementing a substitution government, then we have been effectively disenfranchised and only the totalitarian global collectivists will be allowed to run our government and conduct domestic and foreign policy.
When someone claims the deal with Manafort is bad for Trump, it’s telling what it says about their view of Mueller.
If you think Mueller is “out to get Trump”, then it’s a bad sign that he made a deal with Manafort.
If you think Mueller is attempting to get the truth and write an honest report, then a deal with Manafort is meaningless - Mueller just wants more facts and he’s getting them. Good or bad for Trump it helps create a complete and honest report.
Seems like a lot of people think Mueller is “out to get Trump” based on their reaction to the Manafort deal.

Very good question and I should think anyone hearing his statement would be wondering the same thing... I wonder WHO the “WE” are he’s referring to? Is there more than one critter making the rounds speaking for us in foreign countries when they have no right to do so? Nothing has ever been said or done about democrats when they leave office doing the same thing Kerry is doing. What if it was a Republican former office holder? I guess we all know the answer to that. Kerry was ONCE Secretary of State - big deal - that doesn’t give him any authority to talk to anyone about what our government/country is doing. They had to scrape the bottom of the barrel to get him when Hillary bowed out to run for president and he can’t get over himself.
The president apparently said “illegal” and Kerry says, “not unusual” in response. Is he a drinker or is he really that unhinged?

You’re absolutely right. Nothing has ever been done to any of the loud mouthed dems before for doing the same thing and there’s no time like the present to start!!! Twitters aren’t going to get the job done....have charges brought against Kerry now...
Kerry’s passport should be yanked as well as any security clearance he still has .... and I’d bet he’s still got one. Either get rid of the Logan Act, or have the balls to use it. Pompeo was visibly majorly pissed off when he addressed Kerry’s backstabbing with reporters .... I think he had to control himself not to utter the ‘treason’ word - looked like it was on the tip of his tongue. Every time Kerry meets with the Iranians, I’d crank the screws on them harder - make conspiring with Kerry painful.
