There ya go. That would include some PhD's I know of.
And as other posters have eluded to, CalPERS has been making bad reckless investments for years. Again, balancing and operating a budget and making common sense investments decisions are certainly not complex. Like most everything else in CA, they people running it turned it into a disaster.
Incorrect. Many people out in the *real* world have done quite well without some piece of paper from leftist academia. Better reboot.
It's not completely the degree (although if you hired a CPA, would you want him/her to have a degree?) - it's really that she is committed fraud and is a liar.
It doesn't necessarily invite confidence.
A CPA? Of course not. If the person can operate the accounting software efficiently and has some a history of experience, I see no problem.
Btw, anyone can be a fraud and liar. Have a college paper is no guarantee against that. And some become opportunist years after being hired. That’s always a roll of the dice.
I think it’s an elected deposition or selected by those who are elected to CALPers. I’ll show you them corruption. The board projected a 7.5% increase in the fund during the big downturn in the “too big to fail scandal.” The fund went up .29% Before that they unions went to gray davis and said look we’re going g up over 7% so why not increase the pensions. That’s what took the cops and firefighters in California from 2.5% at 55 to 3% at age 50 both times the number of era of service. When the fund increase goes down, there is no corresponding drop in benefits.
elected POSITION
Diversity trumps university in Neverland.
So what, who needs a college degree?
Not in that field.
True. Many people are educated beyond their intelligence, and those are the most dangerous folks. It is very common amongst the liberal intelligentsia, and even a few on the right with guys like Bill Kristol.
True.
But this is an article about a woman who is is charge of $3,500,000,000 in pension funds. She said she had a degree on her job application, committed fraud, and lied about it.
Why you want to make this story a debate about the value of college degrees or not, I don't understand.
“But in today’s world of both public and private sector employment, you don’t even get an interview without a college degree........”
So not true, at least universally.
My last contract was to manage the network integration of a $17bil tech acquisition.
Made pretty good groceries on that one.
And I have but a high school diploma.
“although if you hired a CPA, would you want him/her to have a degree?”
I would want them to have passed the exam and the background check. And I would want to talk to them...so that I may discern how smart they are.
As for the degree, I could givva sh!t.
“But this is an article about a woman who is is charge of $3,500,000,000 in pension funds.”
No she’s not.
She’s in charge of the organization that administers it.
Investment decisions are made by a very broad and diverse board. And their collective actions are nearly universally stupid.
No one seems to listen. CA, including those in charge of CALPERS and their union goons are corrupt, including this woman. Are you surprised?☺
Let me ask you a question, does it sound a bit odd an organization would put a woman in charge of overseeing a $3,500,000,000 pension fund, who had a history of committing, "Fraud"?
Btw, there is no debate from my perspective about needing a college degree. You don't need one to be successful. It's not complex or debatable.
Are you saying she committed "fraud" on her application but fraud was not in her background history? If that's the case, ya mean an organisation would hire someone to administer a $3,500,000,000 pension fund and they didn't look at her background and check her references?
Really?
Did Washington, Jackson or Lincoln have a university degree?
Oregon’s governor just appointed a woman to head the Oregon Public Pension system who has no experience with pensions. I think they want the systems to collapse to create a future crisis, which they will blame on Trump.
