Bill McRaven, former chancellor of the University of Texas System and a current UT-Austin professor, resigned on Aug. 20 from the Pentagons technology advisory board, multiple news outlets reported Thursday.
His resignation came four days after The Washington Post published an opinion piece he wrote that criticized President Donald Trumps decision to revoke the security clearance of former CIA director John Brennan.
Through your actions, you have embarrassed us in the eyes of our children, humiliated us on the world stage and, worst of all, divided us as a nation, McRaven wrote. If you think for a moment that your McCarthy-era tactics will suppress the voices of criticism, you are sadly mistaken.
The board McRaven resigned from was a group of technology leaders and innovators tasked with advising the secretary of defense.
McRaven, a retired four-star admiral and Navy SEAL, teaches classes at the LBJ School of Public Affairs. He majored in journalism at UT.
Not exactly the standards I would use.
How about "is it good for this country", period. - Tom
If you think for a moment that your McCarthy-era tactics will suppress the voices of criticism, you are sadly mistaken.”
Obviously, since no one is shy about criticizing Trump, that statement is designed to smear Trump and keep him in the good graces of the deep state trolls in D.C.
As a Navy retiree, I’m embarrassed by these left wing Admirals that seem to pollute the Navy.
Probably has a cushy job lined up.
Just another CIA connected jackass. Who was the friend of Brennan. UT is a joke today.
Organized and oversaw 'Neptune Spear', the operation that got Bin Laden.
A Navy Seal.
And lots of commendations including the Bronze Star and Legion of Merit.
Does McRaven have a security clearance?
If so, pull it the moment his resignation goes into effect.
Another one bites the dust.
Give him a nice IRS audit as
a parting gift.
He’s a journalism major, he’s definitely not the brightest bulb in the chandelier. Journalism is the major that you bottom-out into after failing out of history, forestry, or the liberal arts.
Just another guy trying to create a national impression that Trump is a dictator, when he actually is, in spite of his goofball remarks on Twatter, mostly making the federal government a more hands-off affair.
Can’t believe TDS is affecting otherwise-honorable military people.
What a tool, First tech credit for catching Bin Laden because he watched the mission on TV. Claims Seal team 6 even though Dick Marcinko kicked him out.
First class tool. Typical arrogant elitist aristocratic naval officer who mistakes himself for anointed royalty.
Yep, he’s a self-sorting loser, just the way I like them. This guy commanded spec ops, it’s hard to square that up with him being such a Nancy-boy. Maybe he got exposed to some bad chemicals overseas and it corroded his brain.
Thank you for defending our country, Sir. What gives with these people, anyway? This fella was a Navy Seal, one of the best of the best. WTH is happening to these people? Do they really hate Trump more than they love our country, a love they took to the point of defending it?
Yeah, so did McLame! < /s>
Exactly. So WTH happened to him?
His degree is in journalism, talk about aiming low. This putz wasn’t even striving for mediocrity.
This fella Makes McLoser look like one of those pugilistic people who keep getting demoted to Private for various infractions. This guy really pulled a boner writing this editorial.
This guy is a retired four-star admiral and Navy SEAL?!?
Are we sure his fifth grade daughter didn't access his computer?
When was it that McRaven actually lost his sanity?
