An intern in Sen. Ted Cruzs (R-Texas) Washington, D.C., office was reportedly arrested on Capitol Hill this week for possessing unregistered ammunition.
U.S. Capitol Police told CNN in a statement that officers responded to a dispute between the intern, Scott Frantz, and another individual in Franzs car near the Capitol.
Police found shotgun shells in the back of Frantzs vehicle and arrested him, according to the report reviewed by CNN.
The 20-year-old was charged with possession of unregistered ammunition, a violation of D.C. firearm and ammunition possession restrictions.
An aide for Cruz told CNN that Frantz has been placed on leave. A spokeswoman for the senator said the office does not comment on pending law enforcement or personnel matters."
The Hill has reached out to Cruzs office for comment.
“One spent .22lr case stuck in the tread of your boot is unregistered ammunition in DC.”
Correct. A guy spent years in prison because he had a money clip made out of a spent shotgun shell.
What the heck is “unregistered ammunition”?
How do you register ammunition? And where?
“Unregistered...?”
Hearkens back to “vhere ah your pehpers?”
Tell me how having a law concerning ammunition or GUNS is not infringing on the right to keep and bear ARMS?
And this is the Nation’s Capitol! “WTF” indeed!!
A box of shotshells gets you arrested. This, and the bribery, cocaine abounds, leading the nation in alcohol and number of trannies, and the concentrated wealth at the location of political power.
How is DC really THAT much different that Mexico?
They have actually prosecuted and convicted someone for a spent shotgun shell paperweight.
Has the Hill reported on ROBERT O’Rourke criminal record? Hmmm ..didn’t think so!
“Police found shotgun shells in the back of Frantzs vehicle and arrested him”
Hell, two weeks ago TSA found three dove load shells that had fallen into my carry-on bag when I dumped a box off a shelf in the hall closet and just asked me what I wanted to do with them. Yikes. My kids’ response - “Again?”
>>The 20-year-old was charged with possession of unregistered ammunition, a violation of D.C. firearm and ammunition possession restrictions.
Washington and Mexico are the same country now.
“was charged with possession of unregistered ammunition”
I don’t know what that means. The Second amendment doesn’t say you have to register your ammo.
DC needs to be drained.
5.56mm
“BTW - It is really disconcerting to go on a job on a military base, get the vehicle searched every day, and then once home after a week of going in and out the base, realize there was a loaded magazine underneath the back seat.”
I flew commercial probably 20 times unknowingly carrying a loaded magazine — went through the metal detector probably 20 times. Discovered it when dumping out my briefcase.
I dumped the ammo in a box (with toilet paper) and threw it away in a hotel bathroom.
Them mailed the magazine back to myself.
So I googled DC laws on ammo.
The idea is that you shouldn’t have ammo unless you have a gun, and you shouldn’t be able to register a gun until you are 21. And, this intern was 20.
Still a gross over-reach on the 2nd Amendment, especially in DC where people come in from all around the country. It wouldn’t be surprising if the intern comes from Cruz’ home state of Texas, where you wouldn’t even think that an overlooked case of shells in your trunk would ever be a problem.
Texas restricts the transferring of armor piercing ammo. No other form of ammo is restricted.
And yet in CaliMEXICO you can try to stab a candidate and be given a slap on the wrist!! Effin incredible!!!
So who ratted on him????????
Pre 911 I had flown to Europe. When I was rummaging through my carry on in Amsterdam I found several rounds of 22lr ammo from a previous trip to the range. They managed to go through the baggage scanner without being detected.
Planted, of that you can be sure.
First Kavanagh’s alleged HS antics and now THIS!
What an AWFUL day for Republicans and Conservatives!
Man, when Mattress-tag-gate explodes it will be ALL OVER MAN!!
I mean it, GAME OVER MAN!!!
