Multiple explosions in the Lawrence, MA area.
Im very happy to hear that there are no human fatalities but I cant help but worry about the welfare of family pets.
I hope the evacuees bring their pets with them.
Unfortunately 18 year old male has died.
We are going to see more and more infrastructure collapses as the normal IQ workforce is replaced with the 85-90 gang.
When my grandfather was a little boy, the Brooklyn Bridge was 20 years old, the East River tunnels were being bored, when he got married, the Holland Tunnel was dug. As he began his work as a young man, the fantastic system of aqueducts to bring pure mountain water - BY GRAVITY - into every home in the city was created. When my mother was in nursery school, construction started on the George Washington Bridge.
None of that - NONE OF IT - could be built today to last for 120+ years. None of it will be maintained another fifty.
This is so crazy-stupid, there has to be rampant corruption involved. Regulators and relieve valves are so basic. Are all the plumbers up there retarded? The firemen? The politicians? The homeowners? The journalists? All idiots? Third world embarrassing!
I’ve never been to Balmer - near it and to the airport, but that’s all.
Drove down through Lawrence a couple months ago.
I’d have never known. I was shocked.
Oddly enough, Teacher, you are wrong. In fact, three weeks after the Bhopal incident I had a container of chemicals in my hands from that very Union Carbide plant for analysis at the independent testing lab that I worked at. Handling that was the catalyst, if you will, that drove me to improve my future and attend graduate school. A highly dangerous substance with faulty fume hoods, no proper respirators or body protection at the princely sum of $9/hour? No thanks.
Being cynical of how big global business operates I would tend to believe this more likely a ploy by the company to blame union workers to justify bringing in cheap foreign workers.
Aside from that, it is one reason I’d not have natural gas in my home, and especially not in a multi family dwelling. Too many possibilities of malfunctions such as maintenance or installation or supply pressure beyond my control. I live rural with my home having multiple heating sources of electric heat pumps, oil, wood, none of which will ever turn my home into a bomb.
Hope they find and correct this. Somewhere near Pittsburgh a large supply line exploded recently. All of the infrastructure control needs removed from internet.
Deferred maintenance is now culturally embedded in business as standard procedure until something bad happens. CEOS expect their millions in bonuses to cut costs.
Columbia Gas, not the A holes on strike so far but I am sure their lines interconnect somehow.
How close did this gas failure get to Andover Academy?
Horrible. Prayers for the family.
must’ve been a welding accident
Distribution line pressure regulator gone bad?
It was a PG&E gas explosion in the City of San Bruno.
Looks like blatant union sabotage.
I will need proof it is not Islamic terrorism...until then, I will assume it is.
One dead. 18 year old sitting in his car crushed by a chimney.
Around here they blamed old lines and shifting soil, but either a pressure regulator or sabotage was my first guess, and that's the way I'm still leaning. (Or a computer program regulating the pressure - might be more likely than hardware, given the widespread problems in Massachusetts.)
I'd be interested to learn if they had used any Chinese parts in their system. Or Muzzi computer techs.
Shut off the main electric breaker
Unlatching a breaker especially a main is an ignition source in itself, don’t do this.
