Populists and right-wingers have a grip on power in Italy, Hungary and Austria, and now Donald Trump's one-time adviser has designs on increasing their spread across Europe. Steve Bannon dreams of a right-wing "supergroup" gaining a populist foothold in the European Parliament after next year's European elections. But his plans have provoked a sharp response from across the political spectrum.

Sparks alarm among who?
Eric Clapton is in!
There needs to be a 2nd EU for European countries to pick between. The 2nd EU needs to only have 2 things (a currency and an army), no judicial controlling other countries’ laws.
Stevie Winwood too!
I thought the pan Europe road was the way to go.
I recently got a roku(Yippee) and I watched Bannon’s interview with an Australian “Journalist” that was done on Sept 3, 2018. The way he explained Populism and Nativism made sense to me. He said the movement (that President Trump and Brexit inspired) believes religion, ethnic, or race is where everyone should be treated equal. Political correctness is being used by the liberal and radical far left to silence someone who has a different opinion!
If the second EU had universal rights to firearms ownership, it could do without much of an army.
I would like it if no government employee could be armed on duty, with them having to depend on armed citizens for backup.
They forgot the awesome Poles.
“But his plans have provoked a sharp response from across the political spectrum. “
then Bannon must be over the target ...
Until he buys ships, and starts towing migrant boats back to Africa, he is WAY behind Soros.
Nope; neither to both of those things. Any entity that does not have its own currency and its own army is a vassal.
The very notion of a united Europe dates back to Kaiser Wilhelm II, who envisioned “a United States of Europe against America”. The very concept is anti-Americanism personified.
The EU Parliament? They have no power. They’re a rubber stamp for the EU Commission, playing the same role the Supreme Soviet did for the Politburo in the USSR and as the National People’s Congress does for Red China’s Politburo.
The EU Commission is an unelected executive body that both writes and passes lawsit is the only body in the EU government with the power to write laws (as they call it, they hold “sole legislative initiative”). Separation of powers is nonexistent there.
Our Last Chance? [Can Donald Trump Revive The "Spirit of '76?]
I beginning to believe “populist” to these media types =white racists.
