President Bill Clinton nominated Ruth Bader Ginsburg to the Supreme Court in June 1993. She was confirmed two months later by a vote of 96 to 3, and not a single senator asked her about her ten years litigating cases for the ACLU, she said in an appearance on Thursday.

My White House handlers asked me questions about my ACLU affiliation. They were very nervous about it. And I said, ‘Forget it; just forget it. The republicans are the ones being reasonable now, as the Democrats were in ‘93. It is the current democrats that are fighting so vigilantly against a nominee that has an exemplary record. And they are doing it in lockstep.
