HOUSTON Days after a top adviser to President Trump questioned Senator Ted Cruzs chances of winning re-election, the Texas lawmaker casually stepped into the pinnacle of his hometowns energy industry on Tuesday the lobby of the Petroleum Club of Houston, on the 35th floor of a downtown skyscraper.
Mr. Cruz shook hands while holding a cup of McDonalds coffee. By the end of his remarks to the American Petroleum Institute, the audience rose for two standing ovations. It was not a campaign event, but it might as well have been: Mr. Cruz was relaxed and confident, eager to both attack his Democratic opponent and to poke fun at himself and his critics.
When theres extreme anger and hatred on the other side, dont respond in kind, Mr. Cruz told the audience beneath the glittering chandeliers. Have fun. Be a joyful warrior. He recalled encountering a Twitter handle, Ted Cruz ate my son. I was really tempted to tweet, He was delicious, he said.

But Beto is promising lots of FREE stuff, and that is a powerful narcotic to the masses.
No one from El Paso has ever won a statewide election. Beto is not going to be the first. Ted owns the suburbs and the rural vote, more than enough to beat the liberal vote in the big cities.
“The latest polls show a statisical tie and they are no trending in Cruzs favor. In a few weeks Beto will probably be ahead.” And Hillary’s up by 10 in Florida and Ohio, right?
Correction, the article says W will be helping Rep. Pete Sessions (R-Texas), no mention of Cruz.
I think you misunderstand the situation in Washington, DC.
Cruz will pull away later in the race. The flirtation with Betthole won’t last.
[Cruz by 15 points.]
Cruz will Win it For Texas!
No Doubt!
I keep hearing about “energizing the base”.
I’m not sure anyone knows what that means.
It’s organic.
Group think works but you have to have a gullible majority willing to believe cult leaders.
...but to redirect the swarm of humanity, you really need something they desire.
What is that something?
The left thinks it’s free stuff.
The right believes it’s freedom.
I think the President’s rally will energize Republicans and help Cruz... a lot.
Actually he did have four opponents in the primary and won by over 85% of the vote. His 1,317,450 vote total was more than his four primary opponents plus the three democrat candidates.
Really? Really? I ran one of Beto’s campaigners off of my property a few months ago. That person will NEVER come back on my property and promised to tell the rest to never come on the property either. Where’s the fight in peoples’ hearts? Just going to roll over and let ‘em have it? I say no way. Where’s the backbone Americans used to have? Answer?
This is more nonsense. It will be at least 5, maybe 7 as you say.
Cruz won by 16 points in 2012. Now hes in a real fight? I dont think so.
If it is truly close, this might be a big reason.
U.S. Senate, Texas Republican Primary Election, 2018
Candidate Vote % Votes
Ted Cruz Incumbent 85.35% 1,315,146
Mary Miller 6.12% 94,274
Bruce Jacobson Jr. 4.18% 64,452
Stefano de Stefano 2.87% 44,251
Geraldine Sam 1.48% 22,767
Total Votes 1,540,890
And which one of the primary challengers should we have gone with, MrEdd ?
IMHO it is NOTHING to laugh at.
Cruz needs to run as if he was 10 points behind.
The money has been going to the dem.
I think Cruz will win handily.
