Hold the bacon! If you are a fan of beef jerky, salami, hot dogs and other cured meats, you may be putting yourself at risk for manic episodes, according to a new study.
Researchers at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine have discovered an apparent link between consumption of nitrate-cured meats and hospitalization for mania, an elevated mood characterized by hyperactivity, euphoria and insomnia.
Manic episodes, which are associated with bipolar disorder and schizoaffective disorder, may last for weeks or months and can lead to delusional thinking and risk-taking behavior. Researchers seeking to find what factors, other than genetics, cause these abnormal mood states were surprised to find a peculiar dietary link.

And yet somehow here I am still eating and drinking things that were supposed to have killed me decades ago. Go figure...
I am having difficulty finding the mental disorder I experience when I eat a good breakfast on a Sunday morning - lots of bacon and coffee, then take a nap. Seems contrary to these findings.
Were all gonna die!
Where have we heard that before?
Now liberals tell us to stop eating meat. Fat chance.
To paraphrase Will Rogers:
“I’ve never met a slice of bacon I didn’t like”.
Are we talking about bacon or women?
Women increase the liklihood of manic behavior.
I’m not sure any of them are ever cured though.
Bacon is the cause of toxic masculinity. I’m just sayin’
I can’t believe this at all. Mania is generally something experienced by few people. And it happens in those people regardless of exposure to cured meats. So you could look and see if bipolar people are set off by cured meats or the medicine they take is rendered ineffective by the cured meats. But then you throw in the rat study and you are saying all cured meats cause mania in all people. That is just not the experience we have seen throughout history. Cured meats have been around for thousands of years. We would have noticed if they caused mania in otherwise normal people.
Personally, I have eaten cured meats virtually every day as has my whole family of 7. And besides for the Bears loss to Green Bay the other night, we never suffer from mania.
It causes you to steal a whole cow, one slice at a time.

I love bacon . . . I do not love my sternum being sawed into and my heart stopped and worked on . . . like they did 8 1/2 months ago . . . there is a connection.
“CANADIAN BACON,”
Since baby Trudeau’s election it’s been renamed “cuck ham”.
There is nothing bad you can say about bacon, AND IF YOU DO I’LL HAVE TO @#$!% KILL ALL OF YOU MYSELF !!

no... Canadian Bacon will always be... trudeau will be a footnote to the footnote of history...
mmmm BACON !
And brainwashing by a 12th century death cult. It sure ain’t bacon!
Well we had some mania at the half but somehow the pack pulled it out. Weird game.
I’ve noticed when I fry my Halal bacon it humps up just like a moslem on his knees with his butt in the air.
We’ve been warned for decades not to eat “highly processed” foods, yet we are now expected to eat “highly Processed” soy imitation meats.
