(SALEM, Ore.) The discovery of a black lab named Lucy led to the unravelling of a criminal case Monday against an Oregon man who had begun serving a 50-year prison sentence.
Joshua Horner, a plumber from the central Oregon town of Redmond, was convicted on April 12, 2017, of sexual abuse of a minor.
In the trial, the complainant testified Horner had threatened to shoot her animals if she went to the police about the alleged molestation, and said she saw him shoot her dog, killing it, to make his point. ...

But Hillary says women should always be believed.
What a horrible little cretin. I hope she at least gets nabbed and brought in for perjury. I wonder if there is anything more to this, like somebody who had an axe to grind put her up to it.
Name the damn complainant. She has ruined Horner's life but she gets a free ride. Put her name out there.
WTF?
What kind of statement was that for the DA to make? The only evidence was the testimony of a liar. The poor guy deserves a full exoneration. Oh, and the girl is not the victim of sexual abuse, she's a liar and perjurer. She must be named in case she should move elsewhere and does this again.
Same thing happened to a good friend of mine. AFter serving six years, the state supreme court ordered a new trial. While still guilty, the original life sentence was reduced to 8 years with time served.......

What I’ve always noticed is that it’s very rare for prosecuting authorities to completely admit they’ve made a mistake in things like this. They hang on until the very end, insisting the conviction is always good and the defendant guilty. They still couch it even when the guy is being released. Unless there’s solid DNA or something saying the convicted is definitely innocent, these guys never like to let it go.
Maybe that’s related to not wanting to be sued or something, or if they feel it’s just doing damage to the system to give up and let a guy go who they screwed, I don’t know. Prosecutors fully admitting error in a conviction is rare.

Per above link, am I reading that right, the alleged vic was his daughter?! And the jury did come in with a non-unanimous verdict.
After reading the article in your link, I would say the victim might have been his own daughter, or the daughter of someone else who was the complainant. These days grammar mistakes are common, and rarely corrected, especially in journalism. There were an awful lot of “they”s in the article, especially in the paragraph mentioning a daughter. It was very confusing.
Various types of sex crimes certainly *do* occur in this country.Crimes against adults *and* kids. But when a guy is *wrongly* accused of such a crime (which does happen at least occasionally) he’s in heap big trouble because political correctness makes presenting a credible defense very difficult indeed.
My personal experience with Prosecuting Attorneys is you won’t find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.
IMHO most graduated in the bottom 50% of their Class in Law School and failed in Private or Corporate Practice. So they end up running for Public office that props up a ego with the Authority and power of the Government to destroy lives.
They... didn’t have to present the body? Heh.
Solution?
The accuser should have to serve out the remainder of his sentence.
The Innocence Project often get a bad rep here. I don't know why. They're doing good work. They're very selective as to what cases they take (everyone in prison is innocent if you ask them) and contrary to popular belief, their research actually confirms more guilty verdicts than exonerations.
When I hear cases like this I have to ask how the “proof beyond reasonable doubt” standard was met?
An innocent person was sent to prison without the required *proof*. All it took was the testimony of a female.
Sounds like a Mueller trial.

Exoneration are not findings of Innocence.
