A Dallas police officer who fatally shot her neighbor in his apartment, claiming she mistook the unit for her own, told the authorities that the door was already ajar when she entered and that she shot him after he ignored verbal commands, according to court records released on Monday.
The officer, Amber R. Guyger, 30, who has been charged with manslaughter, could face additional charges in a case that has led to accusations that the officer received preferential treatment and debate about whether race may have played a role in the deadly encounter between a white police officer and a black man in his home.
On Monday, the Dallas County district attorney, Faith Johnson, insisted that the investigation into the death of the neighbor, Botham Shem Jean, 26, had not ended and that her office could seek charges including anything from murder to manslaughter.
Well present a thorough case to the grand jury so that a right decision can be made, Ms. Johnson said at a news conference.

That does not mean we “have to overlook” officer criminal activity. I’m getting really tired of this mantra “in order to protect you, you have to give up certain Constitutional Rights, and occasionally, your life!”
“when good cops protect bad cops rather than clean house, its no better than a vast religious organization protecting pedophiles, is it?”
No, because priests are not armed.
Yes. No better than! Because the police are armed it is worse, eh?
“Yes. No better than! Because the police are armed it is worse, eh?”
Well, at least priests don’t kill their victims. That said, there is a special place in Hell for them for what they have done to our children, and FWIW, if any of them had harmed any of my children, I’d be charged with their murder. Thankfully, I’m not a Catholic so I don’t have to worry.
The situation is strange. These are the “facts” that were coming out yesterday. The investigation will find out whether they are indeed “facts” or lame excuses.
Swat teams are given an unfamiliar address which accounts for the wrong address tragedy. She was looking for her own address. Supposedly.
Luckily he didn’t have a dog.
Are those pictures real?
If so, do they make her actions more wrong or her victim less dead?
What? Did I not acknowledged that with the sentence that followed which you conveniently omitted? Split hairs much?
“Pig”
Truth hurts. Calling things by their true names is an unappreciated virtue.
I don’t buy her “story” for a second.
That's not splitting hairs. Words mean things. "Attack" and "defend" are not the same thing. One who attacks cannot claim a right to self defense when the victim of the attack employs defensive force.
Are you employed at the dial an argument call center?
They were rhetorical questions slick. Clearly the victim wasn’t armed or the Dallas cops would have broadcasted that far and wide from day one.
I suggest you find an issue.
Your questions have been answered, “slick”.
You’re welcome.
Have a nice day.
Most likely not a race issue. She killed the poor man. He did nothing to get killed for.
She needs to be punished for this. I feel very bad for his friends and family.
Agree. The shooter stated the room was dark and she only saw a "Silhouette". That would suggest the shooter had no idea if the victim was black, white or green.
In addition, if the shooter could only see a "Silhouette" then the same likely applies for the victim and it seems likely the victim had no idea that there was an actual uniformed cop in his residence.
The door mat was bright red, and she didn’t have one at her apt. Anyone would have recognized it.
Yep. That's a gotcha right there, that will send that female cop to prison. She lied in her statements that the door was open, when there are witnesses that refutes that lie. She banged on the door, yelling "open up!", victim opens the door and she shoots him in cold blood, twice to make sure he goes down. Bad cop, murderer, get her off the street forever.
