Ocasio Gets Knocked Out
American Thinker.com ^ | September 8, 2018 | Steve Feinstein

In June 2018, young 28-year-old "Socialist Democrat" Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez defeated 10-term Democrat Joe Crowley in what was considered a major upset. Crowley – a tried-and-true Democratic congressman with 20 years of loyal party service, proved no match for Ocasio-Cortez and her embodiment of the new brand of über-liberal progressivism. In the new paradigm of Democratic Party politics, there is no such thing as social policies that are too liberal, no education, healthcare, or assistance initiatives that are too generous with government-funded payouts, no position on illegal immigration or gender identity that is too lenient or accommodating.

Now in Massachusetts, it has happened again. Ayanna Pressley, a Democratic African-American woman, decisively defeated 10-term Congressman Mike Capuano 59-41% in a primary contest on September 4. Since there is no Republican candidate in the MA 7th Congressional District, this was the de facto election for that seat and Pressley – who holds views essentially identical to Ocasio-Cortez – will be the officeholder come January 2019. Like Joe Crowley, Mike Capuano was a 50-something white male. "Old white guys" – with the somewhat ironic, humorous exception of Bernie Sanders – seem to be falling out of favor in the Democratic Party these days. Pressley's acceptance speech was characterized by such lines as "We ran a campaign for those who were told their priorities can wait," and "These times demand more from our leaders… change can't wait." This, of course, is merely liberal code-speak for the promise that new government giveaway programs to her constituency are on the way, financed by new taxes on the "rich." Like Ocasio-Cortez, Pressley is seen as a Democratic rising star – female, non-Caucasian, solidly in the "Big Government Solves All Problems" camp.

Perhaps we will be better off in the long run if we learn our lessons the hard way – with the Ocasio-Cortez/Pressley faction actually in office and making policy – and then we surgically remove the fantasy of government-supported Nirvana-for-all from our national consciousness once and for all.
............................................................

Sorry, but I think the author is nuts if he thinks we would ever recover if enough Ocasio’s held office and enacted all of the policy’s that they truly desire. We need to take every opportunity possible to teach the error of their ways to those who would consider voting for these delusional fools BEFORE they get a majority into office.

His fake authoritarian demeanor failed him.

His smarmy facial expressions came off as poor acting

He’s lost it.

I used to say this about Obama.

“...perhaps we will be better off in the long run if we learn our lessons the hard way – with the Ocasio-Cortez/Pressley faction actually in office and making policy...”

If Romney/Ryan had been in just place holding, making life nice for congress (that’s who these guys work for-nit for we the people) Hillary would have had an easy time walking in.

We !and Trump) had enough of the America haters led by obama

New York State has an odd way of putting certain candidates on multiple lines when they are running for a particular office. Ocasio-Cortez is on the Democratic party line, but there is a third-party line, the Working Families Party, on which Joe Crowley is still listed. Crowley has never endorsed Ocasio-Cortez, so he is still officially running.

By making the distinction in a very intensive campaign, Crowley could still be elected, and resume his position as incumbent. But this time, he is fighting the Soros money machine.

Would love to have these idiots put on a plane for a one way trip to Venezuela. They have to provide their own return trip——but only after they have spent 3 months seeing what socialism really produces.

Could be! Serious Democrat players can’t be happy with the nutso Progressive trend. They would be happy with Ocasio under the train.

During BHOZO’s next speech somebody should toss a bag of weed out in front of him. That should really confuse the clown between wanting to pick the bag up or pay attention to the teleprompters.

After seeing the Illinois crowd, looked to be mostly white upper class, cheering for almost everything Osamaobama said I wonder if this Republic has learned anything at all about the far left.

If they did, it certainly wasn't in government (statist) sponsored schools!

"The newbies are Che"

That's a very good observation. Needs to be repeated and spread far and wide.

The newbies are Che

Oh, it goes much farther back than that ...

The traditional Democrat Party socialists are the party of Julius Martov, the Mensheviks...

The newbies are the party of Vladimir Lenin and Leon Trotsky, the Bolsheviks ...

Why doesn’t Crowley run as an independent like Lieberman did after losing a primary fight?

Perhaps they did. The Left faction is taking over the Party. The Leninists hold much of the power and ability to promote candidates,

There are two types of affluent people. I have come to learn this.

There are the affluent who rose above their station. For instance, ones who came from working class parents, typically among the first in their families to go through college, and are doing well in a professional or entrepreneurial career. These tend to be conservatives.

Then you have those who came from affluent parents and never had to worry about money. They were automatically put in the right schools, made the right connections, and entered lucrative careers with a minimum of effort. Or chose not to have real careers at all because of the trust funds bestowed upon them by their wealthy parents. These tend to be liberal.

Regarding the latter, they never really had to work hard and their financial security was assured at birth. So to them, having their taxes raised to support a growing welfare state is fine with them. No matter how high the taxes go, they never need to worry for themselves as they have daddy's money to fall back on. Many of them never even had a mortgage because their first home was paid for in cash. So perhaps they feel a bit guilty for their good fortune and see it as "social justice" for others to have the government provide for them so that they don't have to work hard either.

Meanwhile, the former group, who had to struggle to attain their prosperity feel put upon that others who chose not to work as hard as they get government largesse at largely their expense.
