In June 2018, young 28-year-old "Socialist Democrat" Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez defeated 10-term Democrat Joe Crowley in what was considered a major upset. Crowley – a tried-and-true Democratic congressman with 20 years of loyal party service, proved no match for Ocasio-Cortez and her embodiment of the new brand of über-liberal progressivism. In the new paradigm of Democratic Party politics, there is no such thing as social policies that are too liberal, no education, healthcare, or assistance initiatives that are too generous with government-funded payouts, no position on illegal immigration or gender identity that is too lenient or accommodating.
Now in Massachusetts, it has happened again. Ayanna Pressley, a Democratic African-American woman, decisively defeated 10-term Congressman Mike Capuano 59-41% in a primary contest on September 4. Since there is no Republican candidate in the MA 7th Congressional District, this was the de facto election for that seat and Pressley – who holds views essentially identical to Ocasio-Cortez – will be the officeholder come January 2019. Like Joe Crowley, Mike Capuano was a 50-something white male. "Old white guys" – with the somewhat ironic, humorous exception of Bernie Sanders – seem to be falling out of favor in the Democratic Party these days. Pressley's acceptance speech was characterized by such lines as "We ran a campaign for those who were told their priorities can wait," and "These times demand more from our leaders… change can't wait." This, of course, is merely liberal code-speak for the promise that new government giveaway programs to her constituency are on the way, financed by new taxes on the "rich." Like Ocasio-Cortez, Pressley is seen as a Democratic rising star – female, non-Caucasian, solidly in the "Big Government Solves All Problems" camp.

True, Ocasio the boxer WAS knocked out by Larry Holmes. However, this Ocasio is going to ruin as all before she gets justice for what she is advocating and may bring upon us.
We thought she is a radical but now we know she is mainstream Democratic. Right in the middle of where they are today.
Too bad the Democrats can’t rig Congressional primaries the way they rig Presidential primaries.

The "deserving" or "underserved" or "disadvantaged are deemed by their likeliness to vote for Democrats. The quid pro quo is largess/money in exchange for your votes.

Affluent white professional men (and women) may finally wake up, and stop automatically voting for the Democrats. This would devastate the Democratic Party.
After seeing the Illinois crowd, looked to be mostly white upper class, cheering for almost everything Osamaobama said I wonder if this Republic has learned anything at all about the far left.
Ironic, isn’t it? Affluent and middle class white men/women are the ones financing these socialist’s GibsMeDat promises and payouts.
He assumes that once these idiots destroy the economy that the impoverished peasants will rise in anger and return us to a market economy with a strong middle class. It doesn’t work that way. Ask the people of Cuba, NK, Zimbabwe, Venezuela and soon to be SA. Once you are solidly on the socialist path there is no going back. Everyone becomes so dependent on government they can’t endure the generations it takes to reverse course . People may be miserable, but they have to eat. Add to that the fact that socialist regimes gave no qualms about killing their own people if they bitch too much and you see why once the socialist Elite get this country where they want it there will no longer be a shining city on the hill just another third world hell hole with a highly stratified populace. The wealthy Elite with their armed security on top and the rest of us staring down the barrels of government controlled guns.
Old school dems thought these perky socialists were cute and would be great mascots.. until they discovered that they weren’t cute and were actually rabid attack dogs that will rip them to pieces to get through to the throat of democracy. LIke Che and Stalin, they would often have their former political ‘partners’ kneel in a dark alley while they joyfully capped them in the back of the head....

Ocasio won the primary in one of the bluest districts in NY. I think she wins a seat, but doesn’t go much further.
Ayanna Pressley won her primary in the bluest district in Massachusetts. She will win a seat too, but like Ocasio that’s about it.
She may get that seat but win or lose, the Dems are setting her up as the fall guy when no blue wave happens in the midterms. She’s probably to arrogant to notice.

This phenomena is just young communists replacing old communists. Same net result.
