Former President Obama on Friday lamented the state of politics today, calling out his successor, Donald Trump, by name as he started his push to ramp up Democratic energy for midterms.
Mr. Obama made his return to the political arena by giving a speech at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign after receiving the Paul H. Douglas Award for Ethics in Government.
He praised America’s accomplishments but said there is a darker side to progress when politicians peddle resentment and mistrust to preserve the status quo.
“It did not start with Donald Trump. He is a symptom, not the cause,” Mr. Obama said. “He’s just capitalizing on resentments that politicians have been fanning for years.”

The Rats must be quaking in their boots over losing black votes to Trump and Republicans who support him. I hope that Obama piping up is just another dose of poison for the Rats
Looking at it dispassionately, he is perfectly correct.
If it weren’t for the corruption of the system, and this goes far beyond, and prior to anything politicians say, things would be vastly different and there would have been no room or need for Trump.
And he is also right about disloyalty.
Of course, he does not identify the origins and reasons for the political corruption.
Trump needs to immediately apply a kill shot nickname to the hypocritical punk. Use it often and use it to ridicule.
I saw where they were adding some new words to the dictionary.

Barak H. Obama was a symptom of socialism and an example
of the very thing he accuses a now sitting President of.
Obama was the symptom, Trump is the CURE!
He’s back in it because he’s about to be indicted. Has nothing to do with the election.
Although I disagree with the word "symptom", Zer0 has it right.
The movement was started looong before Mr. Trump came down the escalator and this is why, unlike the Kenyanesian usurper, President Trump has supporters, not followers.
