Dallas police and the county district attorney's office are investigating after police said one of their officers shot and killed a 26-year-old man Thursday night upon returning home from her shift and entering the wrong apartment in her building.

Preliminary information suggests the off-duty officer, who has not been publicly identified, was still wearing her police uniform and was returning home after working a full shift, the Dallas Police Department said in a statement Friday.

That’s the murdered citizen.

Where’s the uniformed murderer?

Who knows how many incompetent people are In jobs they cant handle because of affirmative action? Police, doctors, and now air traffic controllers hired based on sex or race, rather than qualifications. Heaven help us.

How many “accidental” shootings are initiated by officers who are afraid they can’t ‘manhandle’ their opponent in otherwise non-life-threatening events? Fatigue and stress exacerbate poor judgement. Tillman comes to mind as an example. Friendly Fire.

I just smh at so many posters here who think the rest of us are mind-readers.

That is a picture of the poor victim, Botham Shem Jean. he WAS a foreign student from St Lucia in the Caribbean. He was a regular church goer, and not an American gibmedat.

“I wonder if they had some kind of relationship.”

That, of course, is a possibility, but why then were the officers keys in the door? In the door of the wrong apartment? On the wrong floor?

Like I said earlier, a lot had to go wrong for this to happen, and all of them are the officers fault.

The only way I see the jilted lover angle working, is if the guy changed his locks, the officer (hopefully a lady, but who knows these days) was trying to get in with her key, found it did not work, pounded on the door possibly screaming open up, and when he did she shot him.

Either way, I see it as murder.

“If your key doesn’t work, would you not maybe think to look and make sure you’re at the right door??”

Exactly. I once lived in a house that was identical to several others on the street. Twice I mistakenly returned to the wrong house after walking the dog. Both times I realized the error when my key didn’t work, and I got away before anyone noticed.

I hear you. This story, as it stands, doesn’t make much sense.

He was identified on another thread as the perp.

I wish folks would read the stories before posting.

Well, we know the cop is a SHE, at least she "self identifies" as one. Her race is unknown as of yet. But one thing is certain

I know. I should have said “misidentified”.

The reading comment was not directed at you.

It might not have been unlocked. Her key was jammed in the lock. I think she forced the door.

If a peon "civilian" did this, they'd be looking at manslaughter charges, at the very least.

But it was a cop—one of the members of the special protected class who enjoy de facto immunity from prosecution—so there will be no accountability whatsoever...

The instant resort to firepower is why women should not be police officers, at least not patrol and responder cops.
LOL, because cops who are men never do that, right?

So reports now say that blood samples “will be drawn” and they “are not sure of her location” ???

Might be a negligent homicide (manslaughter). Agreed that everything that went wrong was the officer’s fault.

Wife and I left restaurant, go to “our” car and the key doesn’t work. Look puzzled, try again, still doesn’t work. Hear a voice, “Can I help you?” It was our car’s twin, parked a couple of spaces away from ours. Very embarrassing.

Some men do, yes. Women, generally being smaller and skeerier are much more apt to do it and that response for women is in the training. If you are going to have female officers then they have to be trained that way because they are much less apt to be able to handle a hopped up 250 pound perp than a 210 pound male cop is.

Then how in the hell did she get in???

If the key was found in the lock, then it's probably that she was rattling the door handle, trying to figure out why her key didn't work, and the guy opened the door trying to figure out why someone was rattling his door handle.

Then, without even the slightest inkling that she was actually at the wrong place, even after her key didn't work, drew her gun and fired.

“This story, as it stands, doesn’t make much sense.”

I tend to agree. I do not believe any amount of mistake, whether from inebriation or other, could account for ending up on the wrong floor, at the wrong door, and making your way inside.

The more I think about it, the more your relationship idea bears merit.
