The story behind the New York Times' anonymous op-ed blasting Trump
CNN ^ | September 6, 2018 | Brian Stelter

Posted on 09/06/2018 4:32:45 PM PDT by detective

Several days ago a senior official in the Trump administration used an intermediary to contact New York Times op-ed page editor Jim Dao.

Through the go-between, the senior official expressed interest in writing an explosive piece for the paper, describing a "resistance" to President Trump within the government that works overtime to protect the United States from the president's worst impulses.

The result, published on the New York Times' website on Wednesday, prompted speculation all across Washington about who the official is.

More evidence that the fake news story is just that, fake news.

It turns out that the NYT did not even meet with the supposed senior official.

This is not the journalism I studied in my University of Washington major. It is Yellow Journalism. In this case it is a sign that our print media is on thin ice. Global Warming should cause some extinctions.

When “news” media starts blatantly lying, they’re no longer news media.

And if they’re no longer news media, they’re no longer qualified for the protections and such given news media in our culture.

The time for citizens to man up and go for the torches and pitchforks was actually a few decades ago.

I would speculate that the author is either the “intermediary” or New York Times op-ed page editor Jim Dao.

Seems to me the President is better off not chasing these fools around and their fake news. I understand a quick response to some extent, but legitimizing these people is something I won’t understand. Out here in the real world no one cares and anything from these sources is not even discussed seriously. Glad he’s in Montana tonight with real folks.

Let me see if I have this straight. An anonymous source gives testimony to an anonymous intermediary who gives an explosive story to a denizen of the New York Times. Now the Times has a history, even their senior editors won't deny, of employing writers (Google: Jayson Blair) who make up utterly fake news out of whole cloth.

This sounds like a real blockbuster!

“When “news” media starts blatantly lying, they’re no longer news media.”

True, and very, very sad. These people have been blessed and privileged with the responsibility of providing honest perspective and oversight of the greatest system of government the world has ever produced - and they care more about their bylines, egos, and totally moronic pedigree-based stature than they do about the truth. They've failed us, and themselves, and are too deluded and oblivious to actually see it.

"We were simply trying to abide by the standard that the Times in general would use when referring to someone who's not named," he said.

On The Daily, he added, "I feel that we followed a definition that has been used by our newsroom in the past."

So, it's fake, right?

Somebody made up a load of BS and gave it the "drag it through the NYT trailerpark" treatment?

Dao snaps at the bait and presto, an "anonymous op-ed" is born.

That's what I think every time I see "anonymous source" for an article or news story.

If it's anonymous, it shouldn't considered a source in journalism.

But they don't practice journalism today.

It's more like they come up with an idea or concept and write some fiction to fill in the gaps and slap anonymous source on it and it's considered a viable news story.

My money's on someone inside the NY Slimes writing this hate Trump piece.

If it is someone inside the WH, I bet they get a stipend from the paper for utilizing them as a "high administration official" for spreading the Leftist propaganda and hate Trump rhetoric.
