Q?
I think it was a PsyOp from a ‘semi insider’ / NeverTrumper Paul Ryan-style RINO and Trump misplayed it.
Goal was to create paranoia and confusion in the WH and a lack of trust. Trump should have treated it as an anonymous source joke.
The pieces are already out guessing who it is within the WH (an actual CNN ‘story’ right now).
Brought up the 25th Amendment as well.
Deep State knows they aren’t going anywhere with the Special Counsel. Mulehead is running out of steam and all he can do is come out with an opinionated report.
Now Dems have a backup plan arguing Trump is unfit for office.
Why? He’s hot tempered, petulant, bully, not a free trader, doesn’t want war with Russia, or whatever. Doesn’t matter.
It’s the NEXT THING they can move on to when this attack fails.
They don’t want to actually impeach because they saw how Americans punished Republicans for doing that with Bill Clinton.
They just want to wound and raise the specter of impeachment, but not actually do anything. Republicans did the same thing with Obama for 8 years. “Oh, we need BOTH houses. Then, only then, we can stop Obama.” When they were actually part of the Uniparty.
I think somebody on the Times editorial board made the whole thing up.
The other 17 named potential moles, listed by MyBookie, are: Education Secretary Betsy Devos (2-to-1), Secretary of State Mike Pompeo (4-to-1), Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin (4-to-1), chief of staff John F. Kelly (4-to-1), Defense Secretary Jim Mattis (5-to-1), Attorney General Jeff Sessions (5-to-1), Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke (6-to-1), Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue (6-to-1), Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross (7-to-1) Labor Secretary Alex Acosta (7-to-1), HHS Secretary Alex Azar (8-to-1), HUD Secretary Ben Carson (8-to-1), VA Secretary Robert Wilkie (8-to-1), Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen (10-to-1), Ivanka Trump (12-to-1) and Jared Kushner (12-to-1).
Bookies place odds on anonymous White House official
Rene Alexander Acosta (born January 16, 1969) is an American attorney, academic, and politician who is the 27th and current United States Secretary of Labor. A Republican, he was appointed by President George W. Bush to the National Labor Relations Board and later served as Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights and federal prosecutor for the Southern District of Florida. On February 16, 2017, President Donald Trump nominated Acosta to be United States Secretary of Labor. Acosta is the first and only Hispanic person to serve in Trump's cabinet to date.
(The labor secretary pick came up again when Trump and CNN correspondent Jim Acosta joked about whether hes related to Alex Acosta. (Hes not.) Acosta said the phrase Secretary Acosta sounds good and Trump said he asked to have the nominees family tree checked to make sure there was no connection.)
Trump announces Miami native Alex Acosta as new Labor secretary nominee
Because there is a pro-Trump campaign ad on TV listing all of his accomplishments and urging voters to support the President by voting for more Republicans, the Democrats and their mouthpiece, the NYT, cooked up this Fake Op-Ed to give the credit for success to the Resistence fighters in the administration. They can make President Trump look inept and incompetent, thus stealing his record of achievement. This is likely a Clinton/Obama operation.
Okay until they tried to install a script less then a min in.
No thanks.
Would not be surprised if the entire thing is fake, just to strum up internal discord and mistrust between Trump and staff.
What makes it potentially plausible is deep state saboteurs.
My bet is on Dan Coats.
Psyops? Isnt the POTUS job the loneliest in America? Isolate the President and make him miserable. Saul 101? I dont think it is an insider.
McCain wrote this with orders
to release it upon his death?
Doesn’t sound like someone in the White House. Some career swamper in one of the agencies, talking about blocking Trumps directives from being carried out, and fantasizing about Trump being removed from office.
I would start by comparing writing samples from a wide range of journalists, politicians and WH insiders
Don’t we FReepers all know how to recognize fake news when we see it?
Anonymous sources close to the President, supposedly “leaking” stories and quotes which would embarrass Trump, but getting all the facts wrong?
All the signs are there - but yet here we are on FR, a bunch of suckers trying to figure out who the leaker is. Unbelievable.
If, as alleged in the op-ed, there were any “whispers” by any Cabinet member regarding use of the 25th amendment, that Cabinet member should resign for shear incompetence. The high bar of impeachment and conviction to remove from office is exceeded by the 25th amendment, which ultimately would require a 2/3 vote in both the House and the Senate to effectively remove the President from office.
I could see someone making a joke of using the 25th amendment in response to some event - but anyone who actually read the amendment and understands the process required would know the intent was for serious illness and not disagreement with style.
I think I know, I think I know, I think I know, I wannabe first to guess correctly. It’s a game, It’s a game.
Predict the future, predict the future.
Either you KNOW or you DON’T. Until this person (if they exist at all) admits to it, it’s a YUGE NOTHINGBURGER!
Somebody made it up ... probably a BHO flunky
Perhaps Trump is playing the NYT for fools, and setting them up for the plunge. Information now suggest that Trump is considering declassifying the FISA Docs; which has been suggested will shock the nation as to the massive corruption within the DOJ & FBI that will be exposed. Either Trump is setting them up, or the Deep State is reaching a point of desperation in putting out this hit piece.
again, the media creates their own news ..
wowie zowie
Sessions. It’s a good pretext to fire him. Even if wrong and Sessions denies, so what.
Might as well keep the rumor that it’s Sessions because the left wants him in.
You could add Wray and Rosenstein to the list of fellow sympathizers, subversives.
