President Trump, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, and House Speaker Paul Ryan have teamed up this summer to do something that hasnt happened in two decades write and pass department spending bills instead of lumping everything into a massive package.
The House and Senate are moving at a brisk pace to pass the appropriations bills, with the Senate leading, approving nine of 12.
Whats more, the Trump administration has pushed through key priorities on wall and Pentagon spending, as well as curbing wasteful programs, though still ending up with a more expensive budget than they wanted by over $50 billion.
And while Congress has taken the votes, many on Capitol Hill are giving Trump and his team the credit for breaking the 20-year log jam. They cite his refusal to sign another massive omnibus spending bill that ignored his priorities, even if it means shutting down the government.
This is all driven by the president, said a key congressional insider. Its a win for the president. For 20 years this system has been busted.

FR: Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponents Argument
Although Pres. Trump is appropriately eliminating wasteful spending, it remains that corrupt Congress is probably still spending a bunch of tax dollars for things that it cannot justify under its constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers.
Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States. Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
... the care of the property, the liberty, and the life of the citizen, under the solemn sanction of an oath imposed by your Federal Constitution, is in the States, and not in the Federal Government [emphases added]. Rep. John Bingham, Congressional Globe, 1866. (See about middle of 3rd column.)
"The smart crooks long ago figured out that getting themselves elected to federal office to make unconstitutional tax laws to fill their pockets is a much easier way to make a living than robbing banks." me
"Federal career lawmakers probably laugh all the way to the bank to deposit bribes for putting loopholes for the rich and corporations in tax appropriations laws, Congress actually not having the express constitutional authority to make most appropriations laws where domestic policy is concerned. Such laws are based on stolen state powers and uniquely associated stolen state revenues." me
In fact, patriots can bet that if a domestic federal spending program isn't related to the US Mail Service (1.8.7), then the program is unconstitutional and probably be right most of the time.
More importantly, note that the basic reason that the states cannot independently afford to start their own 10th Amendment-based healthcare and retirement programs for example, depending on what programs the citizens of a given state want if any, is this. The corrupt feds keep stealing state revenues necessary to run such programs in the form of unconstitutional federal taxes as clarified by the Gibbons v. Ogden excerpt above.
The remedy for unconstitutionally big federal government
Patriots need to support Trump in the 2018 midterm elections by electing as many new, state sovereignty-respecting patriot lawmakers as they can who will support Trump in putting a stop to unconstitutional federal taxes.
Putting a stop to unconstitutional federal taxes ultimately means supporting Trump in leading the states to repeal the 16th and ill-conceived 17th Amendments imo.
Sorry, I don’t believe this... both the House and Senate have approved level funding for the CPB (NPR/PBS). The upcoming budget won’t shrink government.
The article says it won’t. The key here is that there will never be any hope of budget shrinkage without individual department budgets.
Ryan buried massive H 2 visa and Massive asylum rules in the DHS bill .
Its a nightmare .
Stop it .
That is what this Globalist rag is promoting .
Gope open borders crap .

So, does this mean we like ryan & mitch now??
Its about friggin time. Congress ought to be penalized for NOT passing budgets, as required by law. I say dock their salaries x dollars per day for each day beyond the date upon which budgets are due.
Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Yup & deduct from their salary dollar for dollar for every cent if they run a deficit.
corruption has evolved
not what Ryan buried in that DHS budget !
More cheap labor and open border regs !
test what they want to ram thru quickly .
That's what they are and that what they will always be!
Correct. No one will hear this and many other things Trump has done so well..
” I say dock their salaries x dollars per day for each day beyond the date upon which budgets are due.”
The government writes that in as “liquidated Damages” in all their contracts......penalties for poor performance....
Note: A local Contractor used to regularly over perform and beat construction schedules.....he sued the government for their dollar per day assessment arguing that the penalty established the value per day to the government. He got paid millions when he won his lawsuit!
I happened to meet him a few times. Friendly but tough personality. Hard driving! On a smaller scale I’ll bet they were kindred souls........
So what did they give up to get this is my question. And what did we get. It says they are already 50 billion over omnibus.
You can’t shrink government without shrinking the “small stuff”.
And yes, defunding NPR/PBS is symbolic, but it’s a fight we need to have.
Nice commentary and analogy.
Fortunately many of us share our learnings, like your story, with our friends who arent on FR but do pass on these types of instances to over co e fake news.
Also when we do get the be more presidential comment we relate exactly what you are pointing out, silence , or omission of key facts just helps the enemy.
The Donald is working for us by forcing the issues, and answers to be covered whether the media agrees, or spins ...
