A mother and father in Wisconsin were charged on Tuesday after their 15-year-old
son reportedly died during a 40-day religious fast.
Kehinde Omosebi, 49, and Titilayo Omosebi, 48, of Reedsburg, face charges of
child neglect causing death and child neglect causing great bodily harm, the
Wisconsin State Journal reported.
On Sunday, Kehinde allegedly walked to the Reedburg police station to report
his son had died on Friday, Chief Timothy Becker said. Friday wouldve been
the 44th day of the fast.

When fasting, the inability to count can have fatal consequences.

Yes, you’ve done one 20 day fast. But have you done 15 of them?
The kid probably did.

I do believe there is a difference between fasting and being starved. They starved the kid. I shouldn’t say more.

it really depends on how much weight you have on you. a lot, not most, but a lot of teen boys are skinny and lean. 40 days without food is definitely enough to kill a person already thin.
And you use 20 days as an example, but you have to understand basic math..40 days is double of what you did.

There was a Scottish 27 y.o. man of 478 lbs some years ago who went on a 380 day fast.
In that ONE fast:
He slimmed down to normal weight.
Allegedly with no ill effects.

Exactly, and he was a very slender teen to boot. Fasting is practiced in all religions, all over the world, but accommodations are made for children and pregnant women and the elderly. An otherwise healthy obese adult, on the other hand, can fast for weeks with little or no problem -- like that gargantuan Scot who set the world record.
