Theranos Inc., the blood-testing company accused of perpetrating Silicon Valleys biggest fraud, will soon cease to exist.
In the wake of a high-profile scandal, the company will formally dissolve, according to a shareholder email. Theranos will seek to pay unsecured creditors its remaining cash in coming months, the letter said.
The move comes after federal prosecutors filed criminal charges against Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes and the blood-testing companys former No. 2 executive, alleging that they defrauded investors out of hundreds of millions of dollars and defrauded doctors and patients.

Pussy pass denied? That would be a first.
It caused a huge rift in the Schultz family.
Crazy eyes anyway!
Thanks for posting the link to the Reason interview. That was excellent, very well done. It does indeed explain a lot.
“attractive young woman”
I’ve been on FR a long time and never felt the need to offer direct assistance to another poster. But, now, I’m willing to pay for any therapy you might need.
You are ill and you need help.
Never stick your wallet in crazy.
I think it's already worked it's magic.
IIRC, all she had to do is turn over the shares she held, pay a $500K fine, and promise not to serve as a director or officer of a public company for ten years.
$500K is less than 0.06% of what she conned out of her investors, who should have known better.
Thanks for posting that.
The Reason interview with Carreyrou (posted by KC_Lion above in #6 does indeed explain how she landed her first high profile board member and then leveraged that into a powerful board. I doubt that any of them had high-tech board experience and little or no medical device board experience.
She played the femme-fatale / feminine mystic bit very well and Carreyrou says many of these older men were taken in by that.
What’s the deal?
19 year old woman drops out of Stanford in her Sophomore year to found a medical diagnostics company. Their machine is going to test for every disease known to man with a drop of blood. The young woman founder raises HUGE amounts of money, staffs her board of directors with powerful men, but, in the end, cannot deliver what she promised. She becomes a pathological liar. Before that, the company has a valuation over $10 BILLION and she becomes a paper billionaire. But it was all a lie, the tech results were lies, Walgreens was suckered in to buy into it. The company is out of business and the founder is under current criminal investigation.
Not only are those eyes big and very blue, but she never blinks. Maybe it’s a sex robot.
“Had to happen sooner or later. “
indeed. now if they can just get a conviction of Elizabeth Holmes, the sociopathic conwoman Steve Jobs wannabe, and put her in prison for a minimum of 20 years, planet Earth will spin on its axis just a itty bitty bit smoother for just a while longer ...
A lot of fraudulent companies hire up these guys and pay them to be part of their ‘brand’.
Go back and read up on Bio-Port (the anthrax vaccine maker out of Lansing, Michigan). They went the same route. There are dozens of companies out there with a fraudulent product, and hyped by the big guys.
Bastard. I have a very sore back and it hurts like hell to laugh.
“Elizabeth Holmes was one very strange lady.”
classic sociopath ...
“All I know is the liberal media raised the chick up to exalted heights. Youngest [FEMALE SILICON VALLEY billionaire[ss] and all that.

“IIRC, all she had to do is turn over the shares she held, pay a $500K fine, and promise not to serve as a director or officer of a public company for ten years.”
