An American achievement. It was the fruit of American money, engineering, manufacturing, organization, and ambition. What was Ghana’s contribution? Argentina? Bueller? Bueller?
Aside from a few patches of ground leased to NASA by Australia, the Canary Islands and Spain (IIRC) for land-based tracking stations, the rest of the world watched *our* accomplishment.
Oh, speaking of those tracking stations - look for a movie called "The Dish" from around 2000-2001. Very enjoyable.
The Apollo program was lavishly funded by the American Taxpayer.
I have deep roots in the American space program, as my father was a design engineer on the Saturn V booster for Douglas AC and I was a design engineer on the ISS program with McDonnell Douglas and Boeing. I know first hand what AMERICANS kicked in for this “human” achievement.
When a patriotic friend and ISS alum asked if I would be viewing First Man, I voiced my objection to the slight on this American effort and said I would be avoiding First Man’s calumny on American honor.
