Moving at a rapid 16 mph clip, the system currently known as Potential Tropical Cyclone Seven is expected to develop into a Tropical Storm as it moves into the Gulf of Mexico.

After all these years, seeing other folks posting hurricane threads seems, I dunno, blasphemous or something ;-)

Note: Florida radar map link above...disregard "Alberto" in the overlay description. It is a great radar map with current storm track overlay.

F named storms, September and North Carolina is usually bad news.
Looks like we dodge it this year.

Thanks Nauti, this one will miss me but I’ll keep an eye on it anyway.

LOL. It was enjoyable listing to rain last evening in my part of Texas. We’ll take anything short of flood levels and huge hail!

Gordon looks like it will not get bigger than tropical storm level when it hits. In the meanwhile, it will soak up a bunch of heat energy from the Gulf, weakening the potential of later storms to develop into hurricanes.
Florence does not look like it will develop to anything bigger than tropical storm.
It’s looking like the Atlantic and Gulf are cooler than average this year, as we approach peak season. What do you think?

I am treating this one serious. Tropical storm Allison was “just” a tropical storm. 32 inches of rain later....
