"Although the Voice will not continue publishing, we are dedicated to ensuring that its legacy will endure to inspire more generations of readers and writers to give even more speed to those same goals," Barbey added. Why bother? Almost all the other newspapers publish nonsense already.

It will be bought up and the name used just like Newsweek.

I went to college in Buffalo (surprise, I know). A lot of New Yorkers went there at the time. Occaisionally, someone would have a copy of the Village Voice. It was like listening in on a private conversation. I never know what the HELL they were talking about. But one thing for sure, they were pissed.

“This may have to do with the Victims to Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act (FOSTA). ‘Personal’ sex ads were banned. They may have been a big part of their revenue. “
Maybe so. You won’t get much business in that ‘community’ if you require everyone to be over 18 years old.

Do you remember those ads that went somthing like “Saw you on the R train, our eyes met, I said hello and you laughed...”
Those things made me feel so sad but I always read all of them.

First thing that popped in my head (by Alan Jackson):
Well, the folk scene's dead, but he's holding out in the Village
He's been writing songs, speaking out against wealth and privilege
He says, I don't believe in money, but a man could make him a killin' '
Cause some of that stuff don't sound much different than Dylan
I hear down there it's changed, you see
Well, they're not as backward as they used to be
He's gone country, look at them boots .....

I used to get both rags from 1970-’74 to find out concert dates. That was all they were good for.. Same with the NYSlimes.
