Former Secretary of State John Kerry said in new comments that he regrets picking former Sen. John Edwards to be his running mate while a top the 2004 Democratic ticket.

Kerry told CBS News in an interview set for broadcast Sunday that Edwards ultimately "didn't measure up" to what he wanted in a running mate.

“If you measure the qualities that you are looking for when you choose a vice president,” Kerry said of Edwards, “it didn't measure up. It wasn't what we had hoped for.”

“John Kerry regrets picking John Edwards as 2004 running mate”

Seemed like a good idea at the time....

What has happened since?

Oh, yeah, that ticket lost.

Sorry Johnny. Edwards was not a factor in your losing. It was all you.

Edwards brought charisma to a dull and monotone Kerry campaign.

Kerry wanted Vilsack, McCain, and Gephardt.

Kerry lost, Hillary and Edwards tried to win in ‘08 until the great black politician Barack Obama wowed America in ‘08.

A lot of people view the 2004 and 2008 elections as jokes.

Bush vs. Kerry today would be seen as low turnout.

His time in office would have been only slightly longer than that of W H Harrison.

Why bring this up 14 years later?

What kind of loser would he chose? If it was that homo Edwards back then. It might be that homo Castro.

I agree with John Kerry's assessment that John Edwards is basically wasted space but why bring this up at all and particularly in a public forum? John Kerry might want to think about how this reflects on his awful judgement. If you can't pick a good vice president, why should anyone have any confidence in your other decision-making abilities? Of course, this just reinforces the incompetence he displayed as a senator and as SOS.

John Edwards would probably also say that John Kerry is basically wasted space (and once again I would agree). It might be fun to watch them have a public spitting match.

Wow to say McCain and Kerry both lack class is a profound understatement.

This just in, Tom Brady reflects on his Super Bowl loss, regrets marrying Giselle.

Maybe he didn’t measure up on the “Global Test.”

Hard to see an issue here. There hasn’t been many times (one, I think, to be precise) that Kerry has done something to actually HELP this country, but losing in 2004 certainly meets that standard.

I heard tell Kerry got rice in his brain in Vietnam. His pants though, covered the wound to some extent.

Of course "Live Shot"...which is what a local Boston talk host calls him because of his determination to always be on camera...knew what Edwards was about from the very start,as did the entire Rat Party.

But it was absolutely OK with him because the voting public didn't know.

He doesn’t even talk like a human being. Some automaton political robot.

Hey,c'mon...show some respect here! You've gotta admire a guy who's managed to marry a billion and a half dollars in his life.

His first wife was worth a half a billion.

Well, I’m sure that Edwards was the eason Kerry lost the election. I mean, whatother reason could there be?

A horse walked into a bar and the bar tender asked “why the Kerry face?”

John Kerry regrets...

...being a loser.

...his traitor stance didn’t pay off.

...his wife hasn’t touched him in 3 decades.

...getting swift boated by men of honor.

...faking tossing his medals over the White House fence.

...being a total and complete gutless pu55y.
