You pictures have noting to do with my posts.
My view is that land confiscation during apartheid was and land confiscation is wrong after Apartheid.
Utter nonsense. Show the proof or the data. South Africa at no time had black farmers having to give up their land or farms because of their race. There were no black farmers to begin with. There were no laws preventing blacks from owning land.
Bantu only do ag in wet zones. Pg 15. https://www.longbranch.k12.nj.us/cms/lib/NJ01001766/Centricity/Domain/635/Bantu.pdf
This is from some leftist agitprop, but even they admit it. Farm house look like it is in a wet zone? The land hasn’t been confiscated from blacks. They didn’t see it as arable.
The Zulus did some row crop farming since Natal is a wet zone. The rest of the country? Only if there was a source of surface water.
The Boers dug for water and turned it lush. They feed half of Africa if not more. Are the following crops native to Africa? Corn, Potatoes, Grapes, Citrus, Chicory roots/Endive, Sugar Cane, Sisal. Nope on one and all.
The only native grain is sorghum. Highly prized by the Bantu for making skokiaan. https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/skokiaan (High risk of blindness)
Sad to see that you are buying whole heartedly into leftist and ANC propaganda and official sounding nonsense while trying to support your ignorant BS. You are going to need to dig a little deeper if you want to find anything close to an accurate portrayal.
As a percentage of the population people indigenous to South Africa make up less than a quarter of the percentage of Native Americans in the United States and Canada. The number of black people “forced off their land” in South Africa during any portion of the country's history has been miniscule as compared to the number of white people forces off their land. What do you think the Boer Wars were about?
Ignorant do-gooders such as yourself are the cause of untold misery, death and destruction in this world.
Interesting picture.
1) The house looks to be in very good repair. Is it still an actual home for farmers, or a museum piece?
2) There are no fields in the picture, just desert that could be transplanted to Arizona or Nevada and not look out of place. Is it usual in SA for the farmhouse to be distant from the fields? I ask, because that would be odd in USA.
Museum piece, but that is the type of land they cleared and farmed. Roof is thatch so it stays cool in summer and warm in winter. There would be a bunch of wells and windmills around if this was an actual farm house back in the day. Would be surrounded by irrigated row crops. Cattle would be out grazing the scrub and there would also be sheep and goats. Row houses of similar construction would be close to the farm house for farm workers and families and there would be a small school/church on Sunday as well.
Americans went in with guns. The Dutch went in with Bibles.
Thanks. Makes sense. Too bad they can’t maintain at least some minimal farming, for show at least. It’s nice to see museum pieces in context.
And if you think Americans didn’t go in with Bibles, think again. ;’}
BTW, that is not a mosquito net. It is to prevent the critters in the thatch from falling into the bed while you sleep. ;-) Do love a good thatch roof though. In their climate they last 40 to 60 years.
Beautiful.
“South Africa at no time had black farmers having to give up their land or farms because of their race. There were no black farmers to begin with. There were no laws preventing blacks from owning land.”
You may want to review the Native Lands Act of 1913 which prohibited owning certain lands do to race.
Or perhaps the Group Areas Act of 1950 which directed non-whites to vacate their property.
This contradicts your point completely.
Group Areas Act of 1950: This was wrong, but only affected large urban areas in the cities and did not affect the majority of the country or any farmland.
It was among the first of the apartheid laws and wrong. It however is over and still does not justify stealing white farms that created the country to start with.
Take away the white farmers and South Africa is doomed. Not very smart
And the Native Lands Act prohibited non whites from owning more than 10% of the land. And in the process, there were removals of people.
And I have never justified, nor have I been an apologist for the actions of the ANC.
Nor would I ever justify or be an apologist for any action of the NP during Apartheid.
