Donald Trump Jr. said in a new interview that he would back a conservative version of Facebook.
“I’d love to do it. But what I prefer is, take one of the two Silicon Valley conservatives and let them start it,” Trump Jr. told Axios when asked if President Trump’s 2020 campaign might create such a platform. “And then I'd help promote the platform and be all over that.”
Trump Jr.’s comments come on the heels of a report from The New York Times that more than 100 Facebook employees are forming a group to challenge what the group’s founder, senior Facebook engineer Brian Amerige, terms the company’s “political monoculture.”
“We are a political monoculture that’s intolerant of different views. We claim to welcome all perspectives, but are quick to attack — often in mobs — anyone who presents a view that appears to be in opposition to left-leaning ideology,” Amerige wrote in a post on the firm’s internal message board that was quickly taken down.
President Trump accused social media of censoring non-leftist speech in a tweet earlier this week.
The president in comments on Tuesday warned Facebook and Twitter to "be careful."
“If you look at what is going on with Twitter and if you look at what’s going on in Facebook, they better be careful because you can’t do that to people,” Trump said at a White House event.
Alternative platforms exist to Facebook, which purport to allow all speech, regardless of content, such as Minds and Gab. However, their membership is minuscule compared to the social media giant.
Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg are set to appear before the Senate Intelligence Committee on September 5 about the influence of social media platforms on U.S. politics.
Trump Jr. could not be immediately reached for comment.

And also the relatively new (two years and counting) totally Free Speech and uncensored site on the block that is growing like gangbusters (well over 550,000 members to date and has been in the news a good bit lately and is getting 10,000+ new member sign ups daily ) is Gab.ai

The site has free accounts and paid member accounts available. After getting booted from all the 'Masters of the Universe web platforms last year I came across this one while it was still in its infancy and it is now growing like gangbusters. It might be a good fit for some of you looking for some alternative free speech spaces but understand it is like a wild wild West frontier kind of place but you can carve out yourself a nice niche area.
So try and not get your feelings hurt too easily. It's definitely not for (politically) thin skinned people for sure but your speech will not not be censored or restricted. It will take a little getting used to as for as navigation goes but you'll quickly get the hang of it.
OBTW. Gab.ai is also the home of the likes of Jerome Corsi and Alex Jones has an account there as well and quite a few other notables too numerous to count and more finding their way there daily. Take a look.

But thoughtful liberals with alternative views may be better and more fairly treated in this new context as opposed to how conservatives are treated on the mainstream platforms.

No, you don’t, but that was what Don Jr. was proposing so I was just responding to his comment as to where he’d go to find the money to start his new Conservative Facebook. That said, the talent you need to craft it is mostly in the Silicon Valley. The problem is that most of the “talented people” there are not conservatives. Keokuk, Iowa doesn’t have a surplus of techies.
They are out there. Now start the search.
Because up until recently it wasn't needed because until recently social media platforms were largely neutral.
Social media platforms have changed their business models based on pressure from radical liberal activist groups. They are now openly targeting conservative ideology.

Not me! I’m fine with FreeRepublic. I try, insofar as I am able, to steer clear of the “social media” folks, and I truly do hope that the one’s that are out there today get regulated, because they do not wish our Republic well.
