Or they could use the money to build community gardens that grow plant based proteins and healthy vegetables in food deserts.

As a Catholic, that baffles me too. But ... I think the reasoning is that it's from the ocean. Crustaceans and fish are permitted meals on Fridays during Lent. As for the rest of the year, the "no meat on Fridays" as a sacrifice was lifted years ago as long as a Catholic does some other sort of sacrificial abstinence.

They should build a memorial at their rescue centers since they kill more animals than any other place.

Agreed. Just make sure the granite marker is far enough away from the road so that it’s not a hazard. 200’ should be OK.
But then I don't have the fun of serving lobster across the street from the "shrine"! I'm certain that I will attract a lot of "mourners" who share my view!
I have my own memorial to dead lobsters. It includes a baptismal font filled with clarified butter, so the departed might be washed and anointed in the Hindu custom before sending them to their final resting place (down my gullet).
Perhaps PETA could establish a ‘living memorial’ outside of every Red Lobster Restaurant.
I’m sure there have been crabs and shrimp that have died by accident between their catch and the dinner plate. If no “memorial” for them, then they are guilty of “shellfishism”!
I was there years ago. The mosquitos were nearly as big as the lobsters. Sounds like great fun!
