People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals want to build a 5-foot tombstone where lobsters may have died after a crash on Route 1 in Brunswick, Maine, last week.

According to the Brunswick Police Department several of the crustaceans that a Cozy Harbor Seafood truck was carrying got crushed as a result of the rollover.

The organization sent a letter to the Maine Department of Transportation asking if it could create the roadside memorial where the lobsters lost their lives.

I think they should go a step further and start putting up roadkill memorials. Every roadkill death is the result of a human in a motor vehicle.

I think Jordan Peterson put them up to this. :)

More concern for lobsters than for babies. Sad perspective with news pandering. Judgment day will come. Today is the day of salvation.

We need a roadside memorial at the spot where PETA lost their brains.

Catholics don’t consider lobsters as meat?

Wow, they really need a new Pope to straighten things out!

I’m an Old Testament guy, but disagree about the part where it says don’t eat lobster.

And you don't think that's just a little bit shellfish?

As long as it’s done with private funds, they’re free to memorialize anything.

Good point.

I like to cook lobster tails on the grill in the shell.

The best ones I had was cooked over a fire with applewood chips to add some smoky flavor.

“...And you don’t think that’s just a little bit shellfish?....”
Yes....definitely shellfish. I had no doubt about that!
Had em in Eastport, Maine. Will be heading back down south right after Labor Day.
Spent a good part of the summer in this area. We brought our motorcycle up here and rode most of this area and NB, Canada.
Hope it doesn’t snow before we get outta here. :)

I suspect it would quickly become one of those “strange but true” tourist attractions.

South Shore native here. We used to have “lobsta” every couple of weeks. My dad was a lobsterman for several years before I was born. My uncle was one for 50+ years(both worked it alone) so we got a good deal from a lobsterman up the road.

My dad could make a lobster do a hand stand. You rub them on the back and it kind of paralyzes them and then you can pose them however you want. And yes, that was done on the kitchen floor LOL.

We all ended up in FL and one Christmas, I showed up to the family gathering with about 20 live lobsters. Made everyone’s day, especially my mom. She could really dig in deep. Used to eat the eggs and that green stuff(tomalley). With all the snowbirds and retirees, there are trucks coming down I-95 daily with live lobster.

Now I’m in MO and there’s not much for seafood out here and it’s all frozen. I do snow crab every once in a while. Like every couple years. That’s all I can afford since all four of us like it.

Let them know if they put up a memorial for these lobsters, they will be required by law to put them up for every roadkill in the U.S. from now on.

And when a car crashes into the 5-foot tombstone? (We already know it’s a spot where crashes happen).

“As for relating to what’s on my plate my attitude is:”Well,Miss Bossy...nice to see that you’ve arrived on my plate in the form of a juicy piece of Prime Rib.I must say that you’re particularly tasty when you’re medium rare”.

Once had a cousin bring some city kids his kids went to school with down to the farm.
I think it was five 12 year olds who had never thought about where their food came from.

While I was feeding the cattle one asked me what their names were.
I slapped one old cow on the rump and told them her name was Hamburger.
I pointed to another and said her name was Pot Roast, another was Brisket.
The horrified looks on their precious faces was photograph worthy. Imagine a Norman Rockwell surprised look.

Some years later one of the gals came back to the farm and we had a big laugh about it.

How about a memorial for all of the people that were looking forward to a nice lobster dinner but didn’t get one because the lobsters died in a truck crash?
