Dicks Sporting Goods Inc. DKS -2.17% said weaker sales of Under Armour Inc. apparel and a decision to pull back from the hunting business dragged on the retailers latest quarterly results.
Comparable-store sales fell 4%, Dicks said. Not adjusting for the 53rd week last year, the companys same-store sales declined 1.9%.
Dicks said part of the companys sales problems were a result of Under Armours decision to sell in more stores including Kohls. Under Armour declined to comment.
Also hurting sales was Dicks decision to tighten its policy on gun sales after 17 people were killed in a February shooting at a Parkland, Fla., high school. The retailer halted sales of any firearms to people under age 21 at all of its 845 Dicks and Field & Stream stores and stopped selling assault-style weapons at Field & Stream.
Under Armours results accounted for three percentage points of declining sales at Dicks, while weakness in the hunting and electronics categories contributed two percentage points of decline. When excluding Under Armour and the hunting and electronics business, comparable-store sales fell 1%.

Funny, its always said that corporations only care about money but here we have company after company throwing itself on the sword for the sake of virtue signaling and pleasing a few sjws on Twitter and they won’t stop after seeing what happens to other companies for some reason.
As Glenn Reynolds likes to say “Get work, go broke”.
Hurray! I refuse to pay for overpriced Under Armor
I havent been in a Dicks store in several years and have no intention to go in one in the future, ever....
I buy my guns in local shops. BECAUSE THEYRE NOT DICKS.
Well, willing to lose some for a “righteous” cause is okay I guess. You know, back in the 1950s kids did target practice with rifles and arrows and mass murder in school hardly ever happened. Wonder why?
First of all, why does Under Armour spell it the British way with the superfluous U?
Second of all Kevin Plank wants to be the Phil Knight of Maryland. Fail.
Third of all DJ Durkin just basically murdered an offensive lineman at UMD.
Eff Under Armour and Eff Dick’s. Drove by one once. Looked like a dirty Sears.
No job going liberal D’s!
In the national spotlight: Ed Stack's roots are in Binghamton
Binghamton, NY. Home to a large part of the state educational industrial complex and not much else anymore...
And, IIRC, Stack recently bought a $12 million dollar mansion in FL. Interesting choice, eh?

I could go on through almost half a million articles. It’s not the “new gun policy” that is destroying Dick’s. Products, even firearms, are sent back to the manufacturer all the time. Deciding to devote that shelf space to other products would have been fine, but destroying inventory as a public statement? It’s that anti-American decision to create a media circus by destroying all of the modern sporting rifles on their shelves that caused the problem. Dick’s is dead to me and to all decent people. Good riddance.
Looking forward to seeing their going out of business signs one day.
Stopped shopping there when they announced their new gun sales policy
I refuse to shop there anymore. Hope they go backrupt.
Dick’s got schlonged by their own anti-gun policy.
I stopped shopping there because their name is, like, totally toxic masculinity! Like, duh?! /s
There’s also a hunter boycott of Under Armour because UA dropped sponsorship of a hunter whose husband filmed himself spearing a bear. So poor old Dick’s (NOT) is getting a twofer. UA is selling in other stores, & hunters aren’t buying.
Nder Armour? That doesn’t look right.
