Days after cancelling a planned visit to North Korea by his top diplomat citing insufficient progress in denuclearisation talks, US President Donald Trump hailed his personal relationship North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on Wednesday and said there was no reason to resume war games with South Korea.
Trump's statement came a day after his defence secretary hinted that the drills, which North Korea denounces as rehearsals for invasion, could resume.
Trump tweeted a White House statement in which he once again questioned China's role in helping to resolve the crisis over North Korea's development of nuclear weapons that threaten the United States.
The statement said Trump believed North Korea was under “tremendous pressure” from China, but Beijing was also supplying Pyongyang with “considerable aid,” including fuel, fertilizer and commodities”. “This is not helpful!” the statement said.
“Nonetheless, the President believes that his relationship with Kim Jong Un is a very good and warm one, and there is no reason at this time to be spending large amounts of money on joint US-South Korea war games,” it added. “Besides, the President can instantly start the joint exercises again with South Korea, and Japan, if he so chooses. If he does, they will be far bigger than ever before.”
The statement also said that the US trade dispute with China and other differences “will be resolved in time by President Trump and China’s great President Xi Jinping. Their relationship and bond remain very strong.”(continued)

Trump is one of the best Presidents I have seen in my life time and I have seen a few. Most Americans don’t realize how lucky they are to have him for a President.
The Norks are a Chinese client state. They do what China says or else.

Trump is elevating Kim as part of his strategy. Panda Faced Red Dragon is toast. Their massive GDP % increases are done. They wasted what they stole from us on pretty buildings and have racked up debt like nobodies business. They are screwed. The only way they can service that debt is having 5% + GDP growth.

The previous admin accomplished exactly what it wanted to accomplish re: North Korea.
I do wish people would get up off the silliness that assumes the previous admin had any goal other than to harm the US to the greatest degree possible in every way possible.
I think Trump is second only to Washington.
Kim is back-channeling pleas for mercy and promises to be good.

It’s in Trump’s and the US’s interest to keep that disaster right where he has him. Xi’s entire plan was Shitlery as POTUS. He had no plan B if Trump won.

Yep - and he has more info than he will make public...canceling Pompeo’s visit was a warning rather than a concession as so many seem to think.
