North Korea warned the US in a recent letter that talks are "again at stake and may fall apart," adding that it may resume "nuclear and missile activities" if its demands are not met.
President Donald Trump unexpectedly canceled what was expected to be Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's fourth trip to Pyongyang last Friday due to insufficient progress on the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. The decision was preceded by a "belligerent" letter that criticized his administration for failing "to meet (North Korean) expectations in terms of taking a step forward to sign a peace treaty," CNN reported Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter.
The receipt of the letter, which was sent by the former head of North Korea's spy agency, Kim Yong Chol, occurred just hours after Pompeo's trip was first announced last week, The Washington Post reported Monday. "The exact contents of the message are unclear, but it was sufficiently belligerent that Trump and Pompeo decided to call off Pompeos journey," The Post's Josh Rogin reported.
Pompeo's last trip to North Korea ended with a message from the foreign ministry characterizing meetings with the US as "regrettable." Those negotiations came amid troubling reports from multiple outlets indicating that North Korea had yet to suspend its weapons programs in keeping with its commitment to denuclearize.

The quotes imply exact content. What total BS.
I truly wonder who runs the country of North Korea and any form of succession plan if anything happened to their leader...
Me too! I hope that is not the case..
>>>”Fake news?”
Must be:
There is no longer a nuclear threat from North Korea.
You are certainly entitled to your free opinion here and I respect that portion of it. But nevertheless, you will be proven wrong.
Very Good comments - I think you are absolutely right - NK negotiations take time (been about 20 years now) and I have faith in President Trump. Who knows what the “letter” said, it’s all speculation by the Media. I think like you that Trump has something going on that will be revealed when necessary. Take for example trade deal with Mexico. All the media types were trashing the negotiations and saying it was going to fail. Then at the right moment, TRUMP announces the “art of the deal”. The heck with the Media and their pundits. NK will come around as soon as China “sees the light” and stops helping them - I figure the next trade talks with China will start the ball rolling.
Perhaps we're patient and only shoot if the missile is on track to exceed certain parameters?
Time will tell - quitters never accomplish much......
Like I told the other guy - quitters never seem to accomplish much....Trump is no quitter.
You are comparing optimists to pessimists (realists)! I have no doubt that Trump’s real goal with the Norks was to tweak China. It may well work! Remember, just when you think you’re the smartest guy in the room...
Is North Korea wanting a more incremental approach, with small trade deals for each move to get rid of its nuclear weapons facilities?
the sound of freedom
Go to your room, little Kim. And no coastal condo developments for you, young man.
Every time I see an F-4, I think of that demonstration. Incredible aircraft.
