it lacked in coordination and structure,

That needs to be provided from local authorities. It was the same problem with Katrina.

It is a bit like counting hanging chads, isn’t it?

She’s crazy. Certifiably so. All her top aides have resigned because she’s an overbearing feminazi thug. She only came to power because her centrist party made a deal with the island’s extreme left. Very likely, she won’t run for reelection. She’s only popular in the states, for being a pawn in the TDS media game. Down here it is a cringe-worthy moment after the other with her. She’s buddy-buddies with Melissa Mark Viverito of NYC. Prehaps too much so. If that tells you anything.

The media have been pushing Hurricane Maria as Trump’s Katrina, but so far that hasn’t stuck.

“the extreme partisan leadership there”

Nailed it. That’s the source of all that ails our beautiful island.

“That needs to be provided from local authorities. It was the same problem with Katrina”.

You are correct. With our government being bankrupt on top of being incompetent (both local parties), frankly, we didn’t expect much from them, if any. The upside of this mess was that most people realized, if they didn’t already, how useless big government can be. Hope we can carry that momentum/blinding flash of the obvious into electing better people and cutting government down to almost nothing.

“Imagine an EF-3 tornado the size of your state, tearing clear across the entire length and width of it for 8 hours, in addition to the storm force winds that preceded and tailed it for almost 48 hours, two weeks after being hit by another one. How do you prepare for that?”

You put a lot of stuff underground. You build safe storage areas. You have a lot of backup generators in safe storage. You have a lot of water purification systems in safe storage. You have a lot of MREs in safe storage. You make sure all of your hospitals have working backup gensets that are protected.

You know what the threat is, so you can certainly prepare for being without food, water, and power for long periods.

It’s really not rocket science.

You could store a lot of emergency equipment on ships and move the ships around when necessary to keep the equipment safe and ready to be brought back for emergency use.

Well,... in the overall scheme of things, I wouldn’t say that’s a terrible analogy.

Well, perhaps upping the number of deaths fits in there.

I’m not sure.

I hope none of them were from starvation after hearing all the food and stuff we donated was found spoiled and rat infested.

You’re right, Sir, but our governemnt didn’t have the resources for any of that. It is flat broke, which is our own fault. And I’ll also grant you this much: As a society, Puerto Rico had become complacent since we hadn’t been hit this bad since 1932. The usual run-of-the-mill hurricanes don’t faze us. We’re usually back to normal in a few days. But these two storms, Irma and María, were totally different animals. Believe me, as our glorious President is fond of saying.

Individually?

You build a dome home with concrete exterior and ballistics resistant windows. Have a generator with 30 days of fuel, food for the family for 30 days, and the ability to filter water.

Have I done that? No, because I cant afford that. So on to plan two.

Plan two - couple of acres in the mountains with off grid power and water a couple hundred miles away. Almost there, I still have to get the well drilled next summer.

New “study” my ass. The more they can make it look worse, the more $$$ they hope to collect in Gubbermint aid.

I’d have to agree on that. My gut tells me this news isn’t being presented without some form of agenda attached. I think you’re on track there.

The report, which analyzed processes related to death certification, says that physicians and forensic physicians are among those in Puerto Rico who are authorized to complete death certificates, but that most physicians have no formal training in how to do so. They are therefore unaware of "appropriate death certification practices, especially in a disaster setting," the report found".

The statistical study infers more people than usual died given everything measured. OK so far... However, the statement that physicians documented the deaths wrong sounds much like the way libtards deal with people who don't believe in climate change propaganda.

Libs just simply dismiss anything other that what they want the narrative to say as "ignorance" by people not as smart as they are.
