Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., intends to introduce a resolution in the Senate to rename a Senate office building after the late Sen. John McCain, he announced Saturday.

McCain, R-Ariz., died Saturday at 81 following his battle with brain cancer. His death comes after the senator’s family announced Friday he would be discontinuing medical treatment.

Schumer, along with other congressional leaders, praised McCain for his service in the military and the Senate, as well as his patriotism and courage.

The Southern Manifesto advocated the denial of constitutional rights of American citizens.

Russell’s name is coming off that building.

If they can rename this building now, then they can rename it again when a favored Democrat dies. Bwahahahaha!

“And guess what Chuck, it's personal for Freepers. The GOP has this info now and hopefully they will derail this renaming.”

Please name the Republican senators who will stand up in the Chamber and argue the the building should remain named after a hard line Segregationist like Russell.

The Democrats would like you to think that Russell was a Republican.

After living in the very deep south for over a decade it is clear to me why white people here felt the necessity for a two tier government system. And irrespective of whether that vile rat Schumer gets his way Richard Russell was a giant and McCain and evil little dwarf in the the annals of the Senate and in real life.

“After living in the very deep south for over a decade it is clear to me why white people here felt the necessity for a two tier government system.”

The Constitution does not give a damn about how white people feel, or how they wanted a two tier system.

The Constitution applies to everyone.

"Please name the Republican senators who will stand up in the Chamber and argue the the building should remain named after a hard line Segregationist like Russell."

Uh, Majority tables the bill and never brings it up for a vote?

Or brings up a substitute bill that at least inserts language - ie recaps Russell torpedoing Abe Fortas - specifically designed to embarass Schmuck and his true intent, which is to get Russell's name off the building before Schmuck personally gets called out for it by his nut-roots progressives.

In fact, pardon me, Sue, whilst I tweet to Crazy Eyes about this very thing...

Russell is seen and always will be viewed as a Segregationist, just like George Wallace, Robert Bird and Strom Thurmond.

I doubt anyone in elected office will advocate for Russell.

Well since he is a dimocrat in heart, why would not his fellow liberals love to name a building after him, that is what dimocrats do.

"House of ISIS."

Maybe they could rename this replica of Mecca, and call it the "Imam John" Mecca, in honor of that great ISIS hero...

"Mecca Lecca Hi Mecca..."

“Self preservation is the first law of nature and negates any paper requirement that may interpose itself.”

At no point in the effort to pass the Civil Rights Act(s) were the lives, livelihoods, rights or status of Southern whites threatened.

They had nothing to preserve.

That’s pretty much what the Yankees said in 1865. We all know they meant something different.
