For whatever reason, cancer cells trick the body into not attacking and quickly destroying them. Medical science is working on that approach now with very positive prospects it seems.

The point of the article is that there is hope for potential effective treatments.

A cure is “right around the corner”. Still.
Nobody gets out alive. McCain wasn’t ancient but he was old and lived a long life. Way too long in the Senate however.
There have been promising trials in immunotherapy. Just being able to strip the cancer cells of their invisibility to the body’s immune system and thus be subject to attack by it, looks like it will be a major step forward in cancer treatment.

They act like some day we can live forever thanks to modern medicine.
Well, thank God because we all will live forever and He gave us the option of doing so so in a far better place.
