John McCain, a giant of the Senate who survived years as a prisoner of war in Vietnam to become a leading actor on the political stage for decades, died Saturday at the age of 81.
McCains death from brain cancer came more than a year after he announced he had the condition in July of 2017.
His family announced Friday that he had chosen to discontinue medical treatment for an aggressive gioblastoma because the progress of disease and the inexorable advance of age had rendered their verdict.
The news prompted an outpouring of tribute and sympathy from Republicans and Democrats alike, a testament to the respect McCain built among colleagues in both parties despite his habit of calling them out during clashes over politics and policy.

A giant eh? Is that anything akin to a “lion?”
Sympathies to his family and friends.
Good! No apologies. He did great damage to this country and I acknowledging his service but in the long run
I consider him a traitor as he hid behind the flag and is no less a loss to this country than Ted Kennedy.
Do not rest in peace. You don’t deserve one moment of it. This country, my children and grandchildren are much better off without you in it.
So ask me how I really feel about this late jerk.
‘I am sorry Lord, Almighty, my Father in Heaven, but these two men and Mitt Romney have caused much damage and pain the the American people in many ways!!!”
Once in a while somebody really hits it. That man was a criminal’s criminal. A knave among knaves. To speak that he should be honored here after his decades of treachery makes us liars and hypocrites. He was supposed to represent us and was even our presidential candidate. Let the other side mourn him. The media alone will pour enough slobbering froth. We don’t have to.
2 reasons to celebrate today.
you forgot that Rubio lost his buddy in the gang of six, ILLEGAL ALIENS lost an advocate and the Keating five is down to 4 (or Less) now.
The az voters will probably vote in another rino, they voted for that idiot for all those years.
“Giant” what they don’t say LOL!
Sympathies to his family though.
A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself.
For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.
- Marcus Tullius Cicero
Prayers for the repose of his soul.
I believe it's a reference to one of the rivers of the underworld. A river of boiling blood, flame, etc. You get the picture, Dante's Inferno sort of stuff.
How was McInsane a war hero???
He was a traitorous communist!
Yes, I did a search and saw that. River Styx and all that.
So now he was a “Giant” of the senate like Teddy Kennedy was the “Lion” of the Senate and neither had any honor or integrity.
So this is what we can look forward to absolute Mendacity at a high level for the next week.
Glad I no longer have cable, I don’t have to listen to and watch this travesty.
Amen Brother! I hate hearing all the false accolades for McCain. I have condolences for his family, but McCain was a Vainglorious, Reckless, and Immature man, who was bitter to the end.
