Robin Leach has died at the age of 76, just five days before his 77th birthday.

The British star was best known for his TV show Lifestyles Of The Rich And Famous which epitomized Eighties decadence as it featured such stars as Joan Collins and Don Johnson. The show ran from 1984 until 1995.

Leach passed away Friday morning in Las Vegas, according to the Las Vegas Review Journal.

He had been hospitalized since November after suffering a stroke while on vacation in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

Leach had been in hospice care after suffering a second stroke on Monday, the paper added.

'Despite the past 10 months, what a beautiful life he had. Our Dad, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle and friend Robin Leach passed away peacefully last night,' the family said in a statement shared on Friday.

The family added, 'Everyone’s support and love over the past, almost one year, has been incredible and we are so grateful.

'Memorial arrangements to follow. With love, Steven, Gregg and Rick Leach.'

He will be forever known for his show Lifestyles Of The Rich And Famous, on which he signed off, 'Champagne wishes and caviar dreams.'

I’m surprised he wasn’t older. RIP.

I vaguely remember that show.

I remember better the song "Lifestyles of the Not So Rich and Famous" by that Tracy Byrd fellow.

They want to see us go hog wild
Over beans and barbecue

Seemed to be decent guy. Educated guess he may have burned the candle at both ends.

I am shocked to learn that he hasn’t been dead for 20 years. I thought he was 76 in the early 90’s.

Saw it once; that was enough.

“I’m not gonna live longer, I’m gonna live faster.”

Leach probably epitomized that thought. In 1900, the median age at death for males in the U.S. was 47. Today it’s 76 and change. Leach was fleet average.

If you liked gold-plated Louis XIV bathrooms, that may have been some people’s idea of a good time.

Meh for me.

He was better on the season finale of season one’s Sledge Hammer.

Robin appeared as himself at the beginning in a self described effort to boost the ratings.

Typical male lifespan.

So he got to see things most of us will never attain lifestyle-wise.

The reason the show was popular is it sold being rich and famous to the masses.

People could indulge for themselves the fantasy of living that life.

That’s a worldly life, our lives are intended for things far more important than material objects like cars, houses and money.......Just my belief.

That show epitomized the indulgent decade that was the ‘80s. Whether you think that was a good thing or not. The unapologetic wealthy, where as now there is guilt associated with it.

It’s interesting I associate Donald Trump with that show and era he really was the poster boy for that attitude, but now has somehow become a “working class hero”. I’m sure he was on at least once I don’t remember.

I’m surprised Robin Leach was that young as well.

Well...I have been a poor and broke grad student once, and not so poor now, and I prefer not being so poor. My 30th cruise is coming up in November, and those are lot more fun than staying home.

Nothing wrong with having money as long as it doesn’t rule your life and is not what you love most.

He was a dear, personal friend for many years.

During the election he was frequently interviewed on Fox and was a very staunch defender of POTUS, and he loved America.

He did have a wonderful life, he left us way too soon.
