Alcohol is the 7th leading cause of premature death in the world, and the leading cause of premature death in men 15-49yrs old.

It's a scourge upon mankind, with no other drug comparing to it's destruction. In addition to health outcomes, the impact to family, jobs and relationships is unmatched.

It most certainly begets violence, nobody questions that.

Why don't we prohibit it again? Is it not more dangerous than marijuana?

Lumping everybody together most certainly will show harmful effects although all the harm is on a tiny number..

and after all is said and done,Jesus made water into wine.

Name some things you like. I am sure several ought to be prohibited for negative effects on you in some form.

Because totalitarian states micromanaging their citizens to that degree, and the filthy authoritarians who support such policies are far worse than any inebriating substance.

Thousands of years of human experience make that an incredibly easy question to answer.

As I read the article, the increased deaths are attributed to TB, auto accidents and self-harm (suicide). So, don’t drink and drive, stay out of the third world and don’t kill yourself. Problem solved.

”There is no safe level of alcohol,”

Classic sign of a false, sensationalistic “study.” There is a safe level of every substance, including cyanide or VX nerve gas. There is also an unsafe level of even mundane substances, like water. This kind of gross overstatement is typical of an agenda-driven “study” designed to deceive.

I have no desire to prohibit anything, but drinking alcohol makes life the next day less easy or pleasant. Drinking daily is done by a lot of the planet, but maybe they wold be stronger and healthier if they didn’t. Many of them take in a ton of sugar, from drinking sweet drinks like wine. Men get estrogen dominant. That is not fun.

It definitely does bad things for me personally, but other people seem to be ok enjoying it. I don’t want to take away anyone’s joys in life but the idea of imbibing is always better than the real thing, for me.

I had two beers during the Super Bowl and now, the Philadelphia Eagles are the world champions. Lesson learned.

There are exactly 195 nations in the world today. This “study” purports that it was carried out in all of them.
Every single one.
Bovine Excrement!

Must be almost as dangerous as large soda pops...why not just outlaw the whole soda pop deal instead of just limiting the amount that can be sold in one container?

Are you for real?

Once again, the Constitution has no "Noble Cause" clause and it's really disturbing to have folks who claim to believe in Constitutional Law and FReedom coming up with "pet peeves" they think it's OK for the government to enact to satisfy them - no different than those who want to ban guns...try investing yourself in the deal (donations/time, etc.) as there's nothing like having actual skin in the game to help one's mind work right.

Did anyone mention 2 drinks per day can stop the average Joe from slapping the $#it out of someone? As George Carlin once said " it's called happy hour for a reason"

Causes of premature death....

Gay sex is what they should be warning about and publishing statistics through the Dep. of Health.

It greatly shortens the male lifespan, like 9 years.

Want to have some politically incorrect fun, research that topic

Yikes, it is much higher than that. This needs a thread of its own. But for now, we can fore warn folks right here on what not to do if they want to live a long and healthy life.

What is the average lifespan of a gay man in North America?

Alejandro Franceschi, Volunteer for GLAAD & GLAAD Gala Awards | LGBTQA Member of the community

According to a number of researchers and the CDC, the lifespan of an average, gay, Caucasian male, is about 20 years less than a heterosexual man born in approximately the same year.

Increased HIV/AIDS, lower intestinal diseases, STD’s, drug abuse, suicide and homicide likely are the biggest factors.
