Alcohol is the 7th leading cause of premature death in the world, and the leading cause of premature death in men 15-49yrs old.
It's a scourge upon mankind, with no other drug comparing to it's destruction. In addition to health outcomes, the impact to family, jobs and relationships is unmatched.
It most certainly begets violence, nobody questions that.
Why don't we prohibit it again? Is it not more dangerous than marijuana?

Drunken violence is part of our cultural heritage. Or something.

It’s worse than marijuana in a lot of ways, but no it shouldn’t be prohibited. In a free country, you should have a right to do things that are harmful to yourself.

So you are a statist socialist who believes the government must make all of our life choices for us.
GTFO.

Instead of yet another nanny-state, liberty-robbing law, why don’t we spread the Gospel, as Jesus instructed, and let each individual choose what to do with his or her own life? Just a thought.

My 3-4 glasses of red wine per month have benefited my blood test results. I will continue with this approach, thanks.

I don't totally buy this study. There have been studies that show moderate alcohol use is healthier than total abstention.
Is it not more dangerous than marijuana?
Generally, no, it's not. I'd rather hang out with someone who's had a glass or two of wine than someone who just smoked pot which makes folks boring and stupid. In terms of danger, even moderate users of marijuana can experience psychotic symptoms (paranoia, delusions). No one is delusional after a couple beers. And beer smells better too.
With that said, there's nothing worse than a belligerent drunk. And alcohol makes some folks mean, probably meaner than any other drug (though i've witnessed hyper-aggressive behavior from cocaine users, too).

According to this piece, alcohol increases your risk of dying, that’s what it says.
That’s quite a feat since we are all 100% certain to die. Hard to increase the risk above that.
As regards behavior, alcohol isn’t the problem, people are.

From the article...
"Compared to abstinence, imbibing one "standard drink" -- 10 grammes of alcohol, equivalent to a small beer, glass of wine or shot of spirits -- per day, for example, ups the odds of developing at least one of two dozen health problems by about half-a-percent, the researchers reported. "Looked at one way, that seems like a small increment: 914 out of 100,000 teetotallers will encounter those problems, compared to 918 people who imbibe seven times per week.
Eh.

They just need to pass a law that 18-30 yr men should not be allowed to have another “hold my beer”. I think that is where most of the danger resides.

Good luck with that. I drink occasionally, but not irresponsibly.

Because prohibition worked so well the last time? The people who tell us this crap are the same ones who dare not mention the true health effects of butt sex. I wish leftist, nanny state back holes would just mind their own business, leave normal people in peace and STFU.
