Jeff Sessions: 'Actions of DOJ will not be improperly influenced by political considerations' (tr)

Attorney General Jeff Sessions pushed back against President Donald Trump on Thursday, saying in a statement released by a spokesperson that the Department of Justice would not be "improperly influenced by political considerations" hours after Trump attacked him on television.

"I took control of the Department of Justice the day I was sworn in, which is why we have had unprecedented success at effectuating the President's agenda," Sessions said in the statement which was posted on Twitter by Justice Department spokesperson Sarah Isgur Flores.

Listen to Grassley and Graham, Sessions will be gone within two weeks after the Mid=Terms. Then we will have to worry about Trump’s pick to replace him, considering he has a dreadful ability to pick Godawful people.

You do realize that President Trump could appoint a prosecutor at his own discretion to investigate any matter he sees fit, don't you?

He's probably been advised against this even by his own personal legal advisors, and for good reason: such a person would have a hard time making any criminal charges stand up in court.

Mueller has ABC/CBS/NBC/MSNBC/CNN/FOX (Especially 3pm EST)/Comedy Central/Pop Culture etc... eating out of his hands all because of Sessions.

This translates to confusion and votes ("Youts" are waking up for false reasons) while not talking about policy. The recusal could be one of biggest political blunders of all-time.

I'll take your post one step further: I suspect Mueller figured out very early on that the only way he would ever play a consequential role in his position as special counsel would be if he got fired by President Trump.

Even the one case that has been playing out in court involving the Russian company that dared to show up and defend itself has been so comical that it's hard to imagine how Mueller and his staff even graduated from high school, let alone top Ivy League law schools.

Yes (Although the optics would be another example of providing red meat to your enemies 24/7), yet still does not excuse Sessions impotence/refusal where he flat out told a Congressmen that he will not touch Clinton or the previous admin despite very credible evidence (What a Congresscritter stated).

Enforcing some laws while ignoring others (In the face of cover-ups/bias/prejudice) should not be the AGs goal along with having a President doing his job for him. Also, duping your President by being silent is not very "patriotic" or Christian either.

He is, after all, following in the esteemed foot steps of his predecessors Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch, who were never improperly influenced by political considerations.
