Reporting from Sydney, New York Times Australia bureau chief Damien Cave provided a conservative-mocking “news analysis,” “Coal Lobby Turns Up Heat, and Australia Wilts Under Climate Change.” The text box reproached the country: “A progressive nation remains in thrall to the energy industry.” The online headline: “Australia Wilts From Climate Change. Why Can’t Its Politicians Act?”
Mile after mile of the Great Barrier Reef is dying amid rising ocean temperatures. Hundreds of bush fires are blazing across Australia’s center, in winter, partly because of a record-breaking drought.
The global scientific consensus is clear: Australia is especially vulnerable to climate change.
And yet on Monday, Australia’s prime minister, Malcolm Turnbull, abandoned a modest effort to reduce energy emissions under pressure from conservatives in his party. And on Tuesday, those same conservatives just missed toppling his government.
What on earth is going on?

Australia is less than 0.5% of the world population, there is literally nothing they can do to SAVE THE WORLD, even if all of this crap were true.
Australia????? The continent that is MOSTLY dessert already... and home of some of the most deadly insects and reptiles on the planet... but its going to die because of a few more degrees????

Maybe from time to time, but not at night when the temp falls to cold enough for jackets or sweaters just like any other desert in the world. I am recently back from a camping trip in the Outback which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Just out of curiosity, you big government morons, what spot on the planet is not sensitive to climate change ? And, would you not want to encourage people to move there ?
Here’s the problem...certain people need to make it sound like it’s a recent phenomena & man-caused. That way they can make money claiming to be able to fix something that they know they can’t fix anyway.
