The University of North Carolina is promising to “use the full breadth of state and University processes to hold those responsible accountable” for toppling the “Silent Sam” statue Monday night.

Protesters at the destruction of the Confederate war memorial included students and professors, according to news reports.

They had been agitating for its destruction for years, but grew especially incensed after the administration said it couldn’t remove the 105-year-old statue because of state law. A letter claiming to represent 17 UNC professors threatened to remove the statue themselves this winter.

Liars, bald face liars. They deliberately had the cops stand back and do nothing while the terrorists thugs got their banners around the statue, the ropes on it and then pulled it down. Only then did Barney Fife come look at what had happened and now they want us to believe they are going to prosecute the guilty? Leftists really do believe they are of superior intellect and that the rest of us believe what they say. Antifa, the American Red Guard is not only thugs in the streets but also thugs in board rooms. People are going to die before this all ends.

Why does a statue paying tribute to some random people that died in a war that ended over 150 years ago rile these morons up exactly? Even Germany has statues respecting their WWII dead.

I get if it's a statue of more controversial Confederate leaders, like Jefferson Davis or Nathan Bedford Forrest, but this was nothing more than a memorial for some students that died in the Civil War. Really sad and pathetic that they'd attack such a thing. They probably don't even have any real reason other than "hurr durr Confederacy evil, media told me so since the Roof shooting."

We will unfortunately be at a distinct disadvantage for the whole duration.

I mm an alumnus of UNC Chapel Hill - and am outraged at this mob violence. But I can’t stop giving money to the Alumni Association because I have refused to support this ultra liberal institution since I graduated. But maybe, just maybe, other Alumni WILL stop their financial support.
