Lt. Col. Ralph Peters, a former Fox News military analyst who left after accusing the network of "assaulting our constitutional order and the rule of law" in collaboration with President Trump, talks to CNN's Brian Stelter about his views on President Trump's impact on the country.
"What is the most dreadful part about it, for you?" Stelter asked.
"The most dreadful part is that we have a president who does not respect our system of government," Peters said. He continued to say his former employee FOX News were "prostitutes," "amoral," and "opportunistic... People that only listen to Fox have an utterly skewed view of reality."
PETERS: The people supporting Trump are radicals, these couch-potato anarchists. They’re people that don’t have a program to make America great again. And by the way, America’s great right now. Rather, they’re destructive. They want to tear things down. They want vengeance. And Trump is brilliant at that. He’s done what autocrats and charlatans and false messiahs throughout history have done. He’s told his core supporters, “You are not to blame. You are not to blame for the mistakes you’ve made. You are not to blame for your failures. It’s them. It’s minorities; it’s immigrants; it’s fake news.”

Flag rank is nearly 100% political. People who make high rank are usually CLEVER, but also politically astute. I've worked (unhappily) on the staff of several general officers (up to Lt Gen) and put up with a butt load of ass-kissing Colonels.
Of course, I don't feel much like a failure for having retired as an O-5. I'd have been happy to do 30 years as a captain...and prouder for doing so.
I've never paid any attention to Ralph Peters. Liked his books. Now I'm glad I bought them used. But this retired O-5 feels no shame that I "only made O-5". As a rule of thumb, very high rank comes at a price. And my apologies to a few genuinely outstanding Colonels I knew - glad to say I met a few who were amazing. Only met one general I respected as a man...
I am always shocked when I meet military veteran that’s a socialist. They do exist, and in much larger numbers then you would think !

The best part of Trump is that he has created a catalyst to separate out the real leftist lefties from the democrats. And he has separated the RINOs from the republican party. The McCain crowd who like to say they are republican while working very actively against everything republicans are for, are having a hard time being in the same party as Trump.
And why is Trump such a catalyst? Its because he does not talk conservative, he actually does what his voters want. And thats what RINOs hate the most. Republicans have used conservatism as a marketing point. But they never wanted to change things because they would lose their marketing. You campaign on fixing the country. But once you do that, the same message does not work next time.
Like another poster said, they are mere "entertainers" selling their wares for ratings.

That was my Dad. Fifteen years in grade as an infantry colonel. Every OER said promote this officer immediately to brigadier general. Two tours as brigade commander. Five Legion of Merit awards & retired with the DSM.
But Dad made one mistake: in 1965 he came to his three-star boss’s defense when the latter was savaged by Sen. Ted Kennedy in a committee hearing. Dad followed Kennedy to the VIP elevator and turned his ears bright red according to his grateful boss.
Word filtered back: “No g-d d—ed chicken colonel talks to ME like that and gets away with it!”
So I think that saying is largely true.
