Cohen testifies Trump told him to commit crime by paying off women

NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump’s former personal lawyer Michael Cohen testified on Tuesday that Trump had directed him to commit a crime by arranging payments ahead of the 2016 presidential election to silence two women who claimed to have had affairs with Trump.

Cohen, 51, made the statements as he pleaded guilty to eight criminal charges in federal court in Manhattan, including tax evasion, bank fraud and campaign finance violations.

Cohen did not name Trump in court, but his lawyer, Lanny Davis, said afterward that he was referring to the president.

“Today he (Cohen) stood up and testified under oath that Donald Trump directed him to commit a crime by making payments to two women for the principal purpose of influencing an election,” Davis said in a statement.

“If those payments were a crime for Michael Cohen, then why wouldn’t they be a crime for Donald Trump?” Davis said.

The two payments were intended to silence two women who claimed to have had affairs with Trump and were made prior to the 2016 presidential election. One was for $130,000 given to adult-film star Stormy Daniels. The other for $150,000 related to former Playboy model Karen McDougal.

All you need to know about this is that weaselly little shyster, lawyer Cohen would flip his own grandmother to keep his ass out of jail. That’s all this is about.

Doesn’t Congress have a slush fund just for this ‘problem’? Paying off women for sexual discrimination/harassment.

Paying someone money to sign a non-disclosure agreement is a crime? Then there are a lot of unindicted criminals in every industry in this country.

Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Too bad trump wasn’t running for congress.

He coulda paid the “hush money” out of the congressional bimbo slush fund.

Lanny Davis is Cohen’s “lawyer”? What, was Podesta and Hillary busy with fundraisers or something?

Well the women are guilty of a crime, at least blackmail used to be a crime. Both need to be in jail

That's right !

This was money that Trump was going to pay regardless if he was running for President or not....Cohen is known as Trump’s “Fixer”.... Cohen can stand in a court room and plead that he was directed by Trump to pay for these Non-Disclosures but its Cohen’s conjecture that Trump ordered him to do so for the benefit of the Campaign.... because the campaign would otherwise be damaged...that’s nonsense when you consider all of the other things that came out like the Access Hollywood “Pu$$Y” grab comment. The President won’t be indicted...its a question if Mueller can recommend Impeachment for Trump’s role...this makes the Mid-terms a vital vital must-win for Trump

Why did you tell your client that it was a crime and advise him to plead guilty?

Actually....I owe you an apology....I just did my own research, on comparing the two articles.....and, there is a YUGE difference, between the two articles....

The other thread/article, from the NYSlimes states....

President Trump’s personal fixer Michael Cohen admitted in court Tuesday that he paid two women hush money — “at direction of the candidate,” a clear reference to Trump — to influence the 2016 presidential election.

Where as this Al-Reuters/FakeNews article states....

NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump’s former personal lawyer Michael Cohen testified on Tuesday that Trump had directed him to commit a crime by arranging payments ahead of the 2016 presidential election to silence two women who claimed to have had affairs with Trump.

........

Mikey saying that mean Trump ‘directed him to commit a crime’???

No one can ‘make you do the crime’, Cohen, except yourself.

I don’t know who this makes look more foolish....Al-Reuters or Cohen.

Again, apologies.

Campaign finance is an impeachable offense just like:

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.usnews.com/news/articles/2013/01/07/obama-campaign-fined-big-for-hiding-donors-keeping-illegal-donations%3fcontext=amp

Oh wait, that would have been racist!!!

I think this is the point that needs to be made. That the payment would have been made irrespective of the campaign.

The hard core leftists will eat this crap up, but most other Americans have had enough of this. I knew Trump was no Boy Scout when I voted for him, but unlike JFK, LBJ and Bubba, this president hasn’t used the White House for any sexcapades nor used the power of his office to procure women. What Donald Trump did in his personal life before the presidency doesn’t matter to me, and it’s obvious as our 45th president he’s too damn busy saving the country to do anything else in the Oval Office. I think most reasonable, common sense thinking Americans feel the same way too.

No wonder they hate “Russia”.

The mind reels at the stupid hiring decisions on display here.

Trump hires Cohen who hires Lanny Davis?
