Manafort was convicted of tax evasion for the years 2010-2014, inclusive; failing to file a report of a foreign bank account in 2012; and two counts of bank fraud.

Apparently there was an issue back then that DOJ declined to prosecute for lack of evidence. Mueller resurrected it and got a judge to suspend the statute of limitations.
