I heard the justifications for Apartheid, in that blacks and whites have different systems of beliefs, and on the surface there was some merit to it.
The problem was that the whites still exploited the blacks economically, using them for cheap and dangerous labor, and instead of having completely separate societies that could live the way they wanted, the whites made that impossible for the blacks. Blacks were completely dependent on the Whites for their well-being. That simply could not be sustained over the long haul.

In 2000 my husband, son and I were vacationing at a beach in NC. We stayed at a motel and in the evening we met our neighbors (a white couple in their late fifties) sitting outside their room. We got to talking and they stated that they were from Rhodesia. We expressed concern about their safety and they said they were abandoning their farm and relocating. It wasn’t worth their lives to defend themselves against a corrupt government. I know that leaving everything a person has worked for is hard, but it can’t be harder than worrying about being murdered in your bed. I hope these other farmers get out with their lives. These people are animals.

That simply could not be sustained over the long haul. Right.
So let's make sure to end a racist government by turning power over to a bunch of violent racist communist murderers. It'll be awesome ...

Years ago I was in London and chanced upon an Communist era Russian exhibit in London. While the theme was touting all the great things being done by the SU, the subtheme promulgated through propaganda, print and exhibits, was how deplorable a place South Africa was and how we just needed to cut off all economic, political and social relations with the place.
It was part of the Soviet conspiracy to take over and run the world. Even though the SU is long gone, the communist inspired propaganda lives on and on.

Which is exactly what Environmentalist would love! Eliminating ‘civilization’ would save the earth.

The voters of South Africa have elected their government, and must now deal with the consequences.

ROFL!!!!
Were you alive in the 1980s? Do you have the slightest clue how SA got to be the murderous, racist kakistocracy that it is today? Do you know what a “necklace” is in the context of SA politics?

The voters of South Africa have elected their government, and must now deal with the consequences. Wait, what? You mean the 8% white portion of the country has any say in their future.
They don't.
Democracy is a racial/tribal headcount in a multiracial or multicultural society.

I know that President Reagan initiated a policy of Constructive Engagement to help South Africa.
