THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK
HARRY WARREN
ROSE OF THE RIO GRANDE
Sidney was a soprano sax player and a brawler, having once shot a man over an argument about music. He came out of New Orleans but settled in Paris during le jazz hot in the Thirties. This is a classic Dixieland arrangement from 1953.
Sidney Bechet: Rose of the Rio Grande

Dang! Again?? Sorry to hear it. I'd hoped things would go more smoothly this week. An evening of "saving the world" should help you unwind. LOL
It was a clean-up day here after last night's storm roared through. Lots of small stuff blown out of the trees and scattered that I can handle but Hubby will have to deal with the large stuff like this chunk of tree hit by lightning.
This is where it HAD been attached to the tree
There are a few other pix posted upthread as well.

Rain’s fine, and a little lightning, too, but not STRONG winds blowing things over. We had a little rain and lightning late this afternoon and that was pleasant.
We were lucky twice last night. That one huge limb barely missed the pump house and one out front barely missed taking out the power line that runs from the road to the house.
The phone line got knocked out somewhere around here and that wasn’t fixed today. Might have been knocked out by a tree in the area. I haven’t been anywhere today but Hubby took a little “tour” and said there’s wind damage all around.

Wow. You should have let him take the camera to get a few pictures.
The rain will be nice. You’ve been a while without and hopefully the temps will go down to a comfortable level. Ours are going up, up, up. Today it was 97 [felt like 95—big deal! LOL]

WOW, those are some close lightning strikes, glad not too much damage to your homestead.
Yup, we're relaxing and playing video games.

Bummer! All those meetings today and none had to do with the new time clock system? I hope y’all are able to figure it out!
I guess this means you weren’t able to address that pile of paperwork you’d hoped to tackle today. :-(

He has his own camera but didn’t take it with him. I imagine I’ll see some of it tomorrow morning on the way to the museum.
We’ve had a little rain this month but it was in tiny doses the first 9 days. Then we got that 2.5 inches dose last Friday. There was a tad over an inch in the gauge last night but we got a lot more than that. It just won’t go into the gauge when it’s blown horizontally. LOL
Bummer your temps are going up again. We’re supposed to have a cold front come through - and that usually means storms - early next week and cool off to the low 80s. That will be nice.

That lightning shot was through the window just after the storm had passed over us. That cloud put out those double bolts several times but that was the best shot I got. A lot of close hits around the house and at least one could have been from that cloud.
We’re VERY grateful for no building damage. It’s easier to clean up tree debris than to repair a building.
Sounds like y’all are having a fun evening. A great way to unwind.
